Discover the joy of creating 3D art. Whether you are a total beginner or just looking to unwind, I will guide you through creating your own textured masterpiece with palette knives and modeling paste.

This moon lamp is a fantastic project for exploring texture. I show you how to build up layers of paste on an MDF base to create realistic craters, which look incredible when backlit.

In this piece, I used a thick texture paste to sculpt a 3D flamingo. The background is inspired by Van Gogh's "Starry Night," created with a palette knife for a rich, layered effect.

For those who love bright, happy colors, this summer landscape knife painting is perfect. Using only a palette knife, we build up layers of thick paint to create this vibrant and cheerful scene.

This video shows the process of creating a bird painting with a palette knife. I start with an abstract textured background and then carefully layer colors to form the shape of the bird and flowers.

Here's a look at a textured beach scene I created. I use a thick paste to form the waves, giving the painting a realistic, tactile quality that makes you feel like you're right there at the ocean.

This is a close-up of how I create poppy flowers using texture paste. I apply the paste to create the basic shape and then paint over it, adding details and shadows to bring the flowers to life.

Watch how I build these vibrant sunflowers using a palette knife and heavy body acrylics. Each petal is a single stroke, creating a beautiful, thick texture that stands out from the canvas.

About this collection

You do not need to know how to draw to enjoy these sessions. I teach you how to handle the palette knife and apply texture paste so you get those beautiful, 3D effects on your first try. Everything from the MDF base to the heavy-body acrylics is provided, so you just need to bring yourself and your curiosity.

If you have ever felt intimidated by a blank canvas, texture art is your best friend. Unlike traditional painting where you worry about perfect proportions or smooth blending, texture art is all about the tactile experience. We use modeling paste, palette knives, and even everyday tools to build depth on the surface, creating a 3D relief effect that looks professional from day one.

Why Texture Art?

It is incredibly forgiving. If a stroke does not look right, you just layer more paste over it or scrape it off and start again. It turns painting into a sculptural process. My workshops in Bengaluru cover a range of techniques, from creating those soothing ocean waves to piping delicate floral patterns.

What to Expect

Whether we are meeting at my Harlur studio or a local cafe for a social session, the goal is the same: relaxation and fun. I provide all the supplies, including:

  • Sturdy MDF or canvas bases
  • Professional-grade texture and modeling pastes
  • Palette knives, spatulas, and piping cones

We typically spend 3 to 4 hours on these projects. This time allows for the paste to be applied, layered, and partially dried before we add the final acrylic colors. You will walk away with a piece of art that has real character and depth. It is a fantastic way to take a break from screens and work with your hands.
