Artistic Experiments & Creative Process

I believe in showing the full journey—the messy trials, the unexpected failures, and the finished pieces. Here is a look behind the scenes at my texture, canvas, and mixed-media experiments.

This video documents my experiment with creating texture using fabric on a wooden plank. I share my process, including the mistakes I made with the fabric choice and how I adapted my plan to finish the piece.

Part 1 of my fabric texture experiment. My curiosity about new mediums led me to try using a simple cotton cloth to create texture for a seascape painting. The journey is just as important as the result.

I decided to reuse an old canvas for a new idea. This video shows me starting a new texture painting by piping paste in a floral pattern over a previous artwork. It's all about not being afraid to start over.

Here I'm trying to achieve a watercolor effect using acrylic paints. By watering down the acrylics, you can create beautiful, transparent washes and blends, which is a fun technique to explore.

About this collection

I often share these experiments—like using fabric on canvas or watering down acrylics—to show that art isn't about getting it right the first time. In my workshops, we use these same trial-and-error methods to help you find your own style, regardless of your experience level. Whether we are in my Harlur studio or a cafe, my goal is for you to leave with something you created, not just a copy of what I did.

Many people ask why I share my failed experiments. The truth is, that is where the real learning happens. When I tried using cotton cloth to build texture for a seascape, the first attempt did not work. I had to pivot to leaves. That is the kind of problem-solving we do in my workshops.

I do not believe in strict, rigid curriculums. I believe in giving you the tools—palette knives, modeling paste, acrylics—and letting you play.

What you can expect in a session:

  • Beginner-Friendly: You do not need to be a professional. You just need to show up.
  • Material Exploration: We move beyond standard canvas. We work with wood, fabric, and recycled objects.
  • Real Feedback: I walk around, help you with technique, and guide you when you feel stuck.

Whether you want to master palette knife textures or just want a relaxing afternoon in a Bengaluru cafe, these sessions are about the process. We finish with a piece you are proud of, but the fun is in the mess we make getting there.

Hi, I am Rimjhim. I left my corporate job to focus on what actually makes me happy: painting on walls, furniture, and whatever else I can get my hands on. My studio in Harlur is where I teach anyone to paint, even if you have never held a brush before.
