Commercial and Public Spaces Designed for Community
We craft commercial environments that act as cultural catalysts, blending geometry and atmosphere to create landmarks that feel deeply connected to their surroundings.
At the Anahaspa wellness retreat, we used a language of raw concrete and carefully carved voids. The corridors and passages are designed as a sequence of frames, creating a rhythmic interplay of light, shadow, and views of the surrounding nature.
The Idyllic facade in Bengaluru is designed as a peaceful oasis amid the city's bustle. Its form, inspired by classic Indian architecture, creates a monumental presence that is both a landmark and an invitation to the experience within.
In this view of the Anahaspa retreat, a tall palm tree is framed by the building's concrete volumes. We intentionally designed these voids to embrace the existing landscape, allowing nature to become an integral part of the architectural experience.
About Commercial & Public Spaces
Commercial architecture often suffers from sterile, one-size-fits-all zoning, but we prioritize porosity and traffic flow to ensure that a visitor's journey—from the entrance to the inner courtyards—feels intuitive. When designing commercial facades, such as the arcade-inspired copper frontage at IDYLLL in Indiranagar, we focus on material longevity and acoustic planning to create a landmark that breathes amidst urban chaos.
Our approach to commercial and public spaces is rooted in the belief that a building should do more than house an activity; it should generate memory. We move away from the trend of closed-off, glass-box commercial structures. Instead, we look at the site's history and climate to dictate the form.
Narrative-Driven Zoning
Every commercial project begins with a script. Whether it is a wellness retreat like Anahaspa or an urban restaurant, we analyze the movement of people. We integrate traffic optimization to separate service flows from guest experiences, ensuring that the staff and the patrons occupy the same space without feeling cluttered. This allows us to create double-height volumes and sunken courtyards that act as the heart of the building.
Material Honesty in Public Realms
Public spaces require materials that age with dignity. We advocate for the use of raw concrete, exposed brick, and stone—materials that demand respect and offer durability. In our institutional and hospitality work, we employ facade engineering to manage thermal gain and acoustic comfort, using elements like louvers and custom masonry to filter light and sound naturally.
The Architecture of Interaction
We design for community, not just for throughput. By incorporating 'adda' spaces—informal interaction nodes—into master plans, we encourage spontaneous human connection. Our designs are non-linear, pushing users to traverse paths that reveal the space gradually rather than all at once. This, we believe, is the essence of a building that serves its city.
