About Theyyam: Sacred & Intense Rituals
For Theyyam performances, we require a private, well-lit room at least 4 hours before the show starts. This time is non-negotiable for our artists to apply the traditional chutti makeup and secure the heavy, sacred headgear, ensuring the ritual is authentic from start to finish.
Authentic Ritual Arts
Theyyam is more than just a performance; it is a sacred ritual that demands deep respect and precise execution. When you book us for your temple festival or cultural program, you are bringing a centuries-old tradition to life. Our troupe does not use shortcuts. The costume, the intricate face painting, and the dramatic fire elements are all part of a lineage we are proud to carry forward.
The Performance Experience
Our Theyyam sets are designed for high-impact viewing. Whether it is an open-ground temple event or a stage-based cultural program, the energy we bring is physical and visceral.
- The Ritual: We follow traditional steps, ensuring the movements and storytelling are faithful to the roots of the art form.
- The Visuals: From the striking red face paint to the towering headgear and the fire performances, every detail is crafted to capture the audience's attention.
- Technical Needs: We prefer performing in spaces where the lighting can be controlled to enhance the mystical nature of the act.
We travel across South India, including Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bangalore, to perform. Because the makeup and preparation process is lengthy, we ask clients to provide a dedicated space for our artists to prepare in peace. This allows us to focus entirely on the energy we will bring to your event.
