Earn your rank through sweat, discipline, and consistent training at our dojo.

This is the face of consistency and patience. After nearly 8 years of training, overcoming injuries and setbacks, Ihab Ruknuddin earned his black belt. His journey shows that discipline, not motivation, is what leads to achievement.

Our first batch of black belts from Team AKFA. I am incredibly proud of Ihab and Shiza for achieving this moment. This is not the end, but the beginning of their journey as true karatekas.

The belt grading test is where a student's journey begins in the dojo. Here, our students are being tested by senior instructors, followed by a well deserved snack break to celebrate their hard work.

The successful candidates from our latest belt grading test. Each certificate represents a step forward in their karate journey, earned through focus and hard work.

About this collection

Grading here is not a participation trophy. Whether you are testing for your first yellow belt or preparing for a Black Belt Dan exam, you will be evaluated on WKF standard Kihon, Kata, and technical sparring. We treat every grading day as a serious checkpoint for your progress, where technical skill meets the mental discipline we cultivate in the dojo.

Advancing from a white belt to a black belt is a journey that takes years of dedication. At AKFA, we do not just hand out belts. Our grading system is designed to test not just your physical ability to perform stances and strikes, but your mental fortitude when the pressure is on.

The Path to Black Belt

We follow the World Karate Federation (WKF) standards for our grading curriculum. This means your progression is mapped out clearly. You start with the basics of Kihon (fundamentals) and gradually integrate complex Kata (forms) and Kumite (sparring). For students like Ihab and Shiza, who earned their black belts after nearly eight years of training, the grading day was the culmination of thousands of hours spent on the mats.

What to Expect on Grading Day

Grading is formal. We bring in external guest examiners to ensure our standards remain high and objective. You will perform in front of your peers and instructors, demonstrating that you have mastered the curriculum for your current level. It can be nerve-wracking, but it is a vital part of building the confidence you need both inside and outside the dojo.

Why We Grade

These milestones help you track your growth. It is easy to quit when training gets tough, but working toward the next belt gives you a concrete goal. When you pass, you are not just getting a new piece of cloth for your uniform. You are proving to yourself that you have the discipline to set a goal and see it through to the end. That is what it means to be a true Karateka.

I focus on discipline over motivation because that is what builds a true martial artist. At AKFA, we treat every belt grading as a life milestone, not just a physical test. You will train hard, sweat through the drills, and earn your recognition as part of our family.
