Ramya

I teach classical Hatha Yoga to kids in small group classes, focusing on strength, posture, concentration, and discipline using practices like Angamardana and Yoga Namaskar, with no need for prior flexibility.

About

Every time I teach yoga to kids, I end up learning something new myself. Their curiosity and energy keep me on my toes. Sometimes, I have to remind myself to be as patient as I expect them to be - honestly, they teach me about sadhana (spiritual practice) just by showing up with so much openness.

How Yoga Helps Kids Grow

Yoga is way more than bending bodies or fancy poses. For kids, it’s a toolkit for life. Here’s what I focus on:

  • Physical development through yoga for kids: Stronger backs, better posture, and all-round growth during those crucial years.
  • Yoga for concentration in children: I see kids getting sharper and more focused when we do these simple practices together.
  • Discipline without boring them: The class is structured but not strict, so they build patience and learn to listen - all while having fun.

What We Actually Do

We stick to classical Hatha Yoga. For example:

  • Angamardana: A super energizing fitness system, safe for kids, helps them build strength.
  • Yoga Namaskar: Just 10 minutes, especially good for teens. I wish I had it when I was younger, maybe I’d be taller!

Real Talk on Flexibility

Nobody needs to be flexible to start. That’s a myth. Kids join as they are, and flexibility just sneaks in with practice.

The Class Vibe

Group classes in a clean studio, not too crowded. Kids get to learn from each other, and I keep things calm and focused. I’m always there to guide but also let them explore.

Even a short session can stick with a child for life - and that’s what I love most about teaching.

My Story

People always ask, 'What do you want to become?' Honestly, my life’s a bit of a mix-up. Loved maths, became a programmer, but yoga? Never saw that coming. Trekking in the hills, chai in kulhad, lone walks, old drawings, Bharatanatyam... I find peace in small things. A sadhu once told me, 'yaad na rakho aapka.. sankalp chahiye' (don’t remember yourself… you need will). That stuck. Door un pahadiyon mein kuch to basta hai. Vahin mere sukoon ka rasta hai. (Something’s in those hills. That’s my way to peace.)

My Work

Classical Hatha Yoga sessions - We teach Surya Kriya for beginners, Angamardana classes, Yogasanas, Yoga Namaskar, and sessions for kids.

Yoga as inner technology - It’s not just about poses - it’s about sweetness inside, focus, and stillness. Quality matters more than hours.

Yogic lifestyle guidance - Yoga isn’t just mat time. What you eat, who you’re with, what you watch - all of it supports your practice.

Support and motivation - If your practice stalls, reach out. We’re here, no judgment, just help to restart your sadhana.

Consecrated yoga studio - Our consecrated yoga studio in Doddakallasandra, Bengaluru, offers a meditative space for sadhana and growth.
