Why I Upcycle Sarees
I get a real kick out of turning your old sarees into something fresh. It's not just about fashion for me. Sometimes that saree belonged to your amma or maybe you wore it for some big event. It just feels wrong for it to stay locked up in a cupboard, right?
What Can Your Saree Become?
- saree to dress transformation: Want a flowy dress or gown? I love using borders and pallus in unexpected ways, like one-shoulder pleats or statement backs.
- upcycled saree outfits: Kurti sets with matching pants? Yep. Spaghetti straps, pencil pants, you name it. I’ll even help you pick out a contrast dupatta if you want to complete the look.
- Dreaming of a lehenga? We can use the saree for the skirt, pallu becomes the dupatta, and I’ll design a blouse that actually feels like you.
- I listen to what you want, not just what’s trending.
My Process
You bring the saree and your ideas. I look at the fabric, chat about what you want, suggest some old saree redesign ideas, and then get to work. Only one project at a time in my studio, so you get full attention.

My Story
Hey, we’re Tantava. Started by Nikitha, born and raised in Bengaluru. Our studio is all about stories stitched into fabric. Old sarees from your amma or ajji (mom or grandma) cupboard? We love turning those into new outfits, keeping those memories alive. We mix tradition with a bit of modern flair, and lilac – oh, that’s our favorite! Every piece is made with love, for your big moments – be it gruhapravesh or your shaadi (housewarming or wedding).
