Saree to Lehenga Set
Construction
- Skirt: Custom stitching using box pleats or kali cut based on fabric strength.
- Blouse: Made-to-measure princess cut stitching with padding and back hooks.
Materials & Structure
- Lining: Includes 3 to 4 meters of Premium Butter Crepe or Santoon for the skirt and cotton lining for the blouse.
- Volume: Single layer of hard net (Cancan) added for structure.
- Support: Canvas fusing on the waist belt to prevent sagging.
Finishing
- Tassels: Handmade fabric latkans created from saree scraps.
- Embroidery: High price range covers basic Maggam or Hand embroidery on the blouse neckline and sleeves.
Saree to Gown or Anarkali
Stitching Scope
- Cut: Floor-length Anarkali (kalidar) or box-pleated gown silhouette extracting maximum flair from the saree.
- Placement: Engineering the cut to place the heavy pallu on the yoke or hemline.
- Style: Western necklines or traditional cuts with customized sleeve lengths.
Inner Layers
- Lining: Soft crepe or cotton lining attached throughout the length.
- Structure: Light padding in the bust area with waist darts for fitting.
- Extra Fabric: Inclusion of matching plain silk for the yoke if the saree fabric is insufficient.
Saree to Kids Pattu Pavadai
Outfit Details
- Set: Traditional gathered or pleated skirt (Langa) and blouse (Choli).
- Fit: Elasticated waist or drawstring based on age.
- Longevity: Includes 2 to 3 inches of extra margin inside stitching to accommodate growth.
Materials
- Lining: 100% pure cotton lining washed before stitching to prevent shrinkage.
- Border: Optimization of the saree Zari border to feature on the skirt hem.
Embellishments
- Work: High price range includes intricate Maggam bead or stone work on the blouse neck and sleeves.

Why I Upcycle Sarees
I see every saree as a story. If you’ve got one tucked away - maybe your amma’s (mom’s) wedding saree or something you just can’t part with - I help turn it into something you’ll actually wear. No point letting those memories sit in a trunk, right?
What I Can Do With Your Saree
- Upcycled saree lehenga: I can take a full saree and make it into a lehenga choli set. Sometimes I use the pallu for a modern blouse, sometimes the body for a pleated skirt.
- Gowns, dresses, jumpsuits: Old sarees have the best prints and fabric for Indo-western outfits. If you want a gown or a draped dress, I can make it happen.
- Saree to kids wear: I love making tiny Pattu Pavadai or Langa Voni for kids from your saree. It’s super cute for birthdays or family events.
- Blouse makeovers: Got a blouse you love but it’s outdated? I can change the neckline, add Maggam work, or just give it a fresh look.
How It Works
You tell me what you want. I’ll sketch, suggest, and we’ll figure out the design together. Every piece is handmade, and I do all the embroidery and beadwork myself. Sometimes, the process takes a bit longer if you want something really intricate, but I promise it’s worth the wait.
