The Earth Villa: A Study in Natural Materials
Architecture is a dialogue between nature and living. In the Earth Villa, we used lime plaster, Kota stone, and raw wood to craft a home that feels honest, tactile, and calm.

Another view of the living area, showing the connection to the upper level via a minimalist staircase. The large, hand-painted artwork adds a burst of tropical color, contrasting beautifully with the neutral tones of the room.
The dining space in the Earth Villa opens directly onto a landscaped deck, blurring the line between inside and out. The floor is finished in green Kota stone, and the solid wood dining set creates a grounded, rustic feel perfect for shared meals.
The informal living area on the upper floor is a cozy retreat. A comfortable daybed, woven poufs, and a simple wooden media console create a relaxed atmosphere. The space overlooks the central atrium, maintaining a sense of connection to the rest of the home.

This bedroom is a cocoon of warmth, with earthy lime-plastered walls and a classic four-poster bed made of dark wood. The bay window seat offers a cozy nook for reading while enjoying views of the outdoors.

About The Earth Villa: A Study in Natural Materials
People often ask about the lime plaster walls in the Earth Villa. Unlike standard paint, they offer a depth and tactile quality that changes with the light throughout the day. It is a finish that breathes, requiring a specific application technique, but it rewards you with a living surface that ages gracefully, gaining character rather than just fading away.
The Philosophy of Materiality
Designing the Earth Villa was less about following a trend and more about returning to the fundamentals of space. We focused on materials that possess a natural thermal mass and visual weight—Kota stone for the flooring, lime plaster for the wall envelopes, and natural wood for the joinery.
Why These Choices Matter
- Lime Plaster: Beyond its rustic, soft aesthetic, lime plaster is breathable, which helps maintain a comfortable indoor climate in a city like Bangalore. It creates a seamless look, removing the visual clutter of seams and joints found in conventional painted walls.
- Kota Stone: We chose green Kota stone for the dining areas because it blurs the boundary between the internal floor and the external landscape. It is a hardy, natural stone that develops a beautiful patina over time, becoming more 'lived-in' as the years pass.
- Indoor-Outdoor Flow: The dining space was designed to open directly onto a landscaped deck. By using the same flooring material inside and out, the room feels like it extends into the garden, creating a sense of openness even in a compact footprint.
A Collaborative Process
Every element in this villa—from the custom four-poster bed to the hand-painted art pieces—was a result of a dialogue between our design team and the client. We believe that a home should not just be a structure, but a container for memories. Whether you are looking for architectural consultancy or a complete interior transformation, our approach remains the same: we listen, we understand the context, and we translate those needs into a sculptural, functional reality.
