Our Movement and Learning Space in Jayanagar
An open-air rooftop sanctuary built for movement, play, and curiosity. Whether you are here for Kalaripayattu, bouldering, or quiet creative exploration, this is a space designed for us to grow together.
A glimpse into our dedicated movement space in Jayanagar, Bangalore. We built this area to be a safe and inspiring environment for practices like Kalaripayattu, where you can connect with your body and explore your potential.
Kalaripayattu is one of the foundational movement arts we offer at Svadhyaya. We believe in a holistic approach, where this traditional martial art complements other practices like yoga and bouldering for complete well being.
About The Learning Environment
This isn’t a climate-controlled fitness studio with rows of mirrors. Our movement zone is a naturally ventilated rooftop space in Jayanagar, designed for the realness of practice—which means it can get warm, you will sweat, and you might occasionally train under an open sky. We use high-quality studio mats and professional-grade climbing walls, but the atmosphere is intentionally raw and rooted in nature, meant to keep you grounded while you move.
Built for Connection, Not Just Performance
We designed this space because we felt the city lacked environments where children and adults could truly learn side by side. It started with a simple question: why are learning spaces so restrictive? Our Jayanagar studio is the answer. It is an open-air, rooftop environment where the boundary between teacher and student, or child and parent, often dissolves.
The Movement Zones
The space is physically divided to support different modalities of play and discipline:
- The Martial Arts & Movement Floor: This is where we conduct our Kalaripayattu classes. We opted for high-density, professional-grade studio mats instead of traditional mud pits to keep it hygienic and accessible for modern urban life while retaining the depth of the Northern Style curriculum.
- The Bouldering Wall: Our adjustable hydraulic wall offers flexible routes, ensuring that whether you are a beginner taking your first steps or someone working on technical precision, there is a challenge waiting for you.
- The Shared Arts Area: We keep the layout modular to accommodate pottery sessions, integrated arts, and mindfulness workshops, allowing us to pivot from high-intensity training to quiet, creative exploration.
Why an Open-Air Studio?
Learning thrives when you are connected to your surroundings. Being on a rooftop means you train with natural light and ventilation, which changes the energy of the session depending on the time of day. You will find that this environment encourages a different kind of focus—one that is less about 'fixing' your form in a mirror and more about feeling your body in space. Whether you are here for a structured Kalaripayattu workshop or a drop-in pottery session, expect an environment that prioritizes your journey. It is a messy, vibrant, and deeply human space.
