Traditional South Indian Decor in Bangalore
I specialize in authentic, hand-woven coconut leaf thoranams and fresh flower decor to give your traditional events an auspicious and classic look.
This is a traditional thoranam I built for a housewarming ceremony. The entire structure is made from woven coconut leaves, with red and white flower details, creating a beautiful and welcoming entrance right at your doorstep.
For this house function, I designed an elaborate entrance arch using fresh coconut leaves, banana leaves, and flowers. The intricate weaving and details show the craftsmanship involved in creating authentic South Indian decor.
This unique green backdrop is made entirely of fresh leaves, perfect for a pooja or traditional ceremony. I added decorative lotus cutouts and colorful flower garlands to complete the auspicious and natural look.
About Traditional South Indian Decor
For my traditional entrance arches, I insist on weaving the coconut leaves on the morning of your event. This ensures the leaves and marigold garlands stay crisp and vibrant for your entire ceremony, rather than wilting in the heat. It is a labor-intensive step, but it is the only way to get that perfect, fresh look for your guests.
Traditional decoration is about more than just aesthetics; it is about bringing an authentic feel to your home or venue. When I work with coconut leaves (thoranams), I ensure they are sourced fresh and woven into traditional rectangular or hut-shaped patterns that reflect classic South Indian customs.
My Approach to Traditional Decor
My setup for a traditional arch includes vertical supports wrapped in fresh banana stems or woven leaves. I pair these with seasonal marigolds and chrysanthemums, which are staples for any housewarming, naming ceremony, or wedding. The goal is to make the entrance feel welcoming and auspicious, using techniques that elders in the family will appreciate.
Practical Details
- Logistics: Because I use fresh natural materials like banana stems and mango leaves, I arrive early on the event day for on-site weaving. This is non-negotiable to maintain the quality.
- Customization: While I stick to traditional designs, I can adjust the width to fit standard or double doors, and I always include a red carpet runner for that ceremonial feel.
- Budget: My traditional arch packages start from ₹12,500 and go up depending on the complexity of the weaving and the volume of fresh flowers required.
If you have a specific festival like Varamahalakshmi coming up, just let me know. I have standard setups ready to go that can be quickly customized for your specific venue space.
