Q1

What does birthday decoration cost in Bengaluru?

Birthday decoration here runs from about ₹1,000 for balloons on a wall to ₹2 lakh or more when a whole hall is done up for a big first birthday. The price depends on how much gets built. Half the families who tell us their budget plan ₹5,000 or less. That buys a full balloon ring or a simple printed backdrop with your child's name.

  1. About ₹1,000 to ₹3,000

Balloons on a wall or the ceiling, done for you

What a local balloon decorator does: balloons in your colours, a foil number and a banner. Nothing printed and no name, but plenty for a cake-cutting at home

  2. About ₹2,500 to ₹10,000

A balloon ring or a printed backdrop, for one wall

The corner everyone takes photos in. A ring is bright and quick but carries no name. A printed backdrop puts your child's name and the theme on the wall, and costs more

  3. About ₹5,000 to ₹20,000

A themed setup with character cutouts, for a living room or a clubhouse

A print, a garland and a few small cutouts cost about ₹5,000 to ₹10,000, and at home that's plenty. Taller cutouts, a grass carpet, a neon sign and lights take it up to ₹20,000

  4. About ₹15,000 to ₹50,000

A stage in a party hall

It has to fill a room. More money buys a wider backdrop, the name in lit letters, cutouts as tall as the kids and lights. Many halls have their own decorator, so get their price for the same stage too

  5. About ₹75,000 to ₹2 lakh

The whole hall done up, for a big first birthday

AI estimate. An entrance, a big stage, a photo booth, flowers on every table and sometimes the ceiling. Real flowers in place of artificial ones take it higher. Designers like Party Creatives work at this end

Q2

Which themes can we pick, and what does each cost?

Pick the theme your child loves. What you pay depends on the size of the setup, whatever the theme. A jungle can be a print and a few animal cutouts against one wall, or a hall stage with animals as tall as the kids. The themes families ask us for most are a grown-up's birthday, pastel and boho, jungle, princess and cartoon characters.

Q3

Why does one decorator start at ₹8,500 and another at ₹22,000?

Jay Bhawani Decoration keeps it simple and neat: a printed backdrop, a balloon garland and a few small cutouts, close to the photo you show them. Party Choice builds a whole stage: layered panels, a heavy balloon arch, cutouts as tall as the kids, the name in lit letters, a grass carpet and lights. That fuller look takes more pieces and more hours, and that's where the extra money goes. At home or in a clubhouse corner, the simple one is plenty. If the party is in a hall and you want it to feel like an event, pay for the stage.

A Boss Baby first birthday: a blue gingham printed backdrop reading Boss Baby Yuvan, a second arched panel with a white One neon sign, a grey, white and blue balloon garland round both, and one Boss Baby cutout on a white plinth

Jay Bhawani's themed setup

₹8,500 to ₹14,000

A butterfly second-birthday stage in a hotel hall: layered purple and pastel backdrops washed in coloured light, two balloon arches, butterfly cutouts, pleated plinths and the name AARNA in lit letters on a lilac floor

Party Choice's full stage

₹22,000 to ₹28,000

An 8x8 ft printed flex backdrop

An 8x8 ft seamless or panel backdrop

Over 400 balloons round the backdrop

600 to 800 balloons, in a heavy arch with double-stuffed and foil

Up to 5 character cutouts, 1 to 3 ft

4 to 6 cutouts, 3 to 4 ft

A neon sign or lit numbers for the age

5 lit marquee letters, about 2 ft tall

Q4

Can I bring my own decorator into my clubhouse, hall or restaurant?

Ask the venue before you pay the decorator, and get the answer in writing. Can an outside decorator come in, is there a fee, what hours do you get the room, and can anything touch the walls?

Q5

Will my setup look like the photos on the decorator's Instagram?

Only if the photo shows a setup they did at your budget, in a room like yours. Ask them for that photo.

Q6

What happens to my advance if I cancel, or the decorator doesn't come?

If you cancel, you will probably lose your advance. Decorators take it to hold your date and buy your materials. So pay the smallest advance they'll take, and get the cancellation rule in writing before you pay it.

Q7

How far ahead should I book, and how long do they need to set up?

Ask as soon as the venue is fixed. A balloon corner can be done in a day or two, and anything printed with the name needs two days to a week. Setup itself takes two to three hours in the room.

Q8

Terrace or garden party: what if it rains or gets windy?

From June to October, agree a covered Plan B with the decorator before the day. Most of the rain falls in the evening and night, when parties happen.

Q9

Are balloons, candles and helium safe around toddlers and pets?

Balloons are the main danger for toddlers. A scrap of burst latex can block their airway.

Before you pay, settle these six

  1. What's in the price, item by item, with travel
  2. What the venue allows: the room times and the walls
  3. The name, spelled out, and a print proof before they print
  4. Who is coming to set up, a ready-by time an hour before your first guest, and a photo when it's done
  5. When they take it down, and what you pay if a piece is damaged
  6. The advance, when the rest is due, and what happens if you cancel or move the date

Want us to find one?

Doing this yourself takes a week. You message ten decorators, many don't reply to a number they don't know, the ones who do send packages that don't line up, and Instagram only shows each one's best day.

Tell us once instead. We come back with the decorators who fit, each priced for your party, with their own past work. We already know them: we've checked their real work and their prices, and called their past clients, including about what went wrong. Only about 1 in 10 who apply get in, and every one is re-checked at least every six months. How we verify

Every booking comes with an agreement on what's included and what it costs. It's free for you. The decorator pays mytribe a small fee when you book, and you pay them directly, at the same price as going to them yourself. If something isn't going to plan, a person here sorts it out.

The same chat answers questions about the party itself, like whether a quote is fair. This guide is about Bengaluru; for another city, ask on the same number.
