About this collection
Our mehfil setups are intentionally intimate, keeping the focus on Alish Mohan's vocals and the storytelling power of 'shayari'. We do not use heavy amplification here; instead, we rely on the pure acoustic resonance of the harmonium, tabla, and flute, making this ideal for seated audiences or quiet lounge venues where conversation and connection matter most.
At Sufi Folks, we view a 'mehfil' as a conversation, not just a show. This setup is perfect for corporate evenings, private family gatherings, or lounge settings where you want the music to set a tone of elegance rather than dominate the room. We lead with the 6-piece acoustic ensemble, which allows us to maintain a volume that encourages interaction while delivering the depth of traditional ghazals and Sufi classics.
Our performance flow is deliberate. We kick off with a 'sher' (couplet) to set the mood, allowing the audience to settle in before we transition into deeper, more lyrical pieces. Because we prioritize the 'roohaniyat' (spirituality) of the performance, the band is careful to adapt to the venue's specific acoustics.
