A bedroom should be a sanctuary, not just a place to sleep. I design rooms that feel like a gentle exhale, blending warm minimalism with textures that ground you. Here are some of my favorite private retreats across Mumbai.

This bedroom from our Santacruz apartment is designed to feel like a gentle exhale. The tone-on-tone palette of warm taupes and blush accents, combined with a full-height textured headboard, creates a space that is calm, grounded, and quietly luxurious.

In this bedroom, the highlight is the large, textured headboard that enhances the room's height. I explain our design intent: to use a neutral, muted color palette while creating a "wow" factor through 3D elements and custom art, making the space feel both grand and serene.

For this tranquil master bedroom, we designed a sophisticated half-poster bed as the centerpiece. Paired with herringbone flooring and a custom wardrobe with curved details, the room is a haven of understated elegance and modern comfort.

This guest bedroom is defined by its calm and soothing atmosphere. The textured rattan headboard adds a touch of old-world charm, while the soft beige tones and minimalist decor create a peaceful retreat for visitors.

The master bedroom in our 2,700 sq.ft. apartment project features a bold maroon wardrobe that contrasts beautifully with the neutral tones of the bed and walls. Brass details and fluted textures add a layer of subtle glamour and sophistication.

This master bedroom from the Evelyn penthouse is a sanctuary of style. A dramatic, full-wall landscape mural serves as a backdrop for the custom floating desk, while a sculptural floor lamp adds an artistic touch. The space balances luxury with a strong sense of character.

In this serene green bedroom, a nature-inspired handmade 3D wall mural sits behind the bed. The room celebrates craftsmanship and speaks of luxury subtly, with details like 11-foot tall lacquered glass wardrobe shutters and gold accents.

This guest bedroom from "Apartment 222" combines rest and reflection. The floral bedspread adds a touch of traditional charm, while the clean lines of the wall paneling and bedside table keep the space feeling modern and uncluttered.

A detail from the master bedroom in the Evelyn penthouse. The custom grey chaise lounge with its unique asymmetrical design sits in front of sleek, metallic-finish wardrobe shutters, showcasing a blend of comfort and high-end design.

The master bedroom in the Evelyn project features warm wood herringbone flooring and a custom chaise lounge. The space is designed with layers of functional zoning for work, rest, and storage, all without visual clutter.

About Serene Bedroom Sanctuaries

When I design a bedroom, I focus on the headboard first—not as a decorative afterthought, but as the room's anchor. I often avoid standard headboards, opting instead for custom millwork or integrated 3D elements that stretch the room's perceived height. Whether we are incorporating a hand-painted mural, a floating desk, or soft, fluted textures, every inch is planned to balance your need for storage with an uncluttered, peaceful visual flow.
