Learn to make, paint, and carve your own unique ceramic plate in one of my beginner workshops. I'll guide you through slab rolling and sgraffito, two beautiful techniques that let you create something personal and functional.
The joy on a young student's face says it all. My workshops are about having fun, exploring creativity, and seeing your very own clay creations transform into ceramics you can use every day.
A moment of admiration for the amazing and unique ceramics made by students in one of my beginner's workshops. It's incredible to see what people can create when they work with clay for the very first time.
Taking yourself on a pottery date is a wonderful act of self-care. It's a chance to try new things, feel the earth between your fingers, and find your ground in a creative, meditative process.
About Join a Workshop
You will make, paint, and carve your own piece, but the real work happens in the kiln after you leave. I handle the slow drying, glazing, and firing process for you, so your ceramic piece is food-safe and ready to take home a few weeks later.
A Different Kind of Pottery
Forget the spinning wheel and the pressure to make something symmetrical. My workshops are about handbuilding—the slow, ancient way of working with clay. We focus on pinching, coiling, and slab rolling, which allows you to really feel the material. Whether you are a total beginner, a group of friends, or a corporate team, you don't need any prior skill to join.
What You Will Learn
In my sessions, we dive into practical techniques that result in functional art. You will learn the Sgraffito method—where we carve designs through colored slip to reveal the clay beneath—and how to construct items like mugs, bowls, and wall plates. I provide all the materials, including high-fired stoneware clay and food-safe Amaco glazes.
The Process
When you attend a workshop at my Powai studio or one of my pop-ups across Mumbai, we prioritize the experience over the outcome. It is about the mess, the tactile joy, and the meditative break from the city rush. Because the clay needs time to dry, be fired, and be glazed, your finished pieces will be ready for pickup or delivery a few weeks after the workshop. You leave with a memory of the day, and later, a physical object you created with your own hands.
Studio Gariffiti
I’m Garima, and my studio is where we trade the city rush for the quiet, meditative work of clay. I don’t believe in rigid rules or perfect outcomes, just in giving you a space to slow down and get your hands messy.
