Ishtaa: Soulful Vegetarian Restaurant Design in Jayanagar
We designed Ishtaa to be more than just a restaurant. It is a space where the warmth of Andhra cuisine meets a grounded, modern aesthetic in the heart of Jayanagar.
The facade of Ishtaa at dusk. The warm interior light glows through the green-framed doorway and brick lattice, creating a welcoming and intriguing street presence for the restaurant.
A wide shot capturing the full context of the restaurant's entrance. The grand scale of the steps leading up to the door makes the entrance feel significant and special.
Another perspective of the Ishtaa storefront. The clean lines of the building, the texture of the brick, and the bold color of the door come together to define the restaurant's modern yet earthy brand identity.
About Restaurant & F&B Design: Ishtaa
The brick lattice and deep green frame at the Ishtaa entrance weren't just design choices. We focused on how the light catches these textures at dusk to make the restaurant feel like a welcoming home before a guest even steps inside. It is about creating that initial, visceral sense of comfort that pulls people in from the busy Jayanagar street.
Creating a Soulful Dining Experience
Designing Ishtaa was a journey of finding the balance between authentic roots and modern hospitality. We wanted to move away from typical restaurant layouts that feel cold or overly engineered. Instead, we aimed for a space that feels lived-in and honest.
Why the facade matters
In F&B design, the storefront is your handshake. For Ishtaa, we used a local brick-and-mortar approach combined with clean, bold lines. The brick lattice is not just for looks; it filters sunlight during the day and glows from within at night, creating an inviting, soft light that signals that something special is happening inside.
Our approach to F&B design
- Human-Centric Flow: We prioritize staff movement and guest comfort so the service feels invisible and seamless.
- Lighting Layers: We use warm, textured lighting to highlight food and create a relaxed mood, avoiding harsh overhead glare.
- Material Integrity: We lean into natural finishes like brick, wood, and lime plaster. These materials age beautifully, which is vital for high-traffic restaurant spaces.
The collaborative process
Design is never a solo act. For Ishtaa, our team spent hours on-site, experimenting with textures and framing to ensure every corner felt intentional. We believe that when the design reflects the soul of the cuisine, the guests feel it. We work closely with restaurant owners to understand their vision, their menu, and the vibe they want to build. Whether it is a small cafe or a large fine-dining establishment, our goal is to design spaces where people want to stay, eat, and return.
Studio Ruh
We are Kavya and Shruthy. For us, a restaurant has to breathe and feel like home. We poured our heart into Ishtaa, focusing on the details that make guests want to sit longer and come back for more.
