About Institutional Interior Design
Designing with Rūh (Soul)
Every institution has its own vibe, and I try to catch that right from the start. My focus is on bringing out the heart of your space, not just filling it with furniture. I want people to actually feel the spirit of the place the moment they walk in.
Educational Spaces That Spark Joy
When I work with schools, it’s never just about desks and boards. I try to build warm, fun, and curious spaces that support real learning - like corridors where kids want to explore, or washrooms that don’t feel boring. I use a lot of natural materials and modular classroom furniture so rooms can change with the day's needs. No plastic everywhere - I prefer things that feel good to touch and last longer.
Real Stories, Real Impact
For Sri Kumaran School, I gave each kindergarten level its own world - desert, forest, aqua. It’s not just cute; it helps kids feel like they belong. I also designed big libraries, a proper auditorium, and activity rooms for everything from math to music. The corridors? Full of wall puzzles and murals. Even the cafeteria has stories about food and health.
Visual Storytelling Everywhere
I use graphics and murals in almost every corner. It’s a simple way to make values, healthy habits, and good behaviour part of the daily space - not just posters nobody reads.
Magic happens in chai-fuelled brainstorms and late-night sketches. The best part is seeing a place come alive for the people who use it.

My Story
Hey, we’re Kavya and Shruthy, Studio Ruh. For us, rūh is soul. That’s what we try to pour into every project. Not just about pretty walls or fancy sofas. It’s about the *feel* – the vibe that makes you want to stay. Clients become friends, sometimes family. We’ve pulled all-nighters, lots of chai, maggi, and somehow it all comes together. Winning ‘Young Practice of the Year’? Still feels unreal. Grateful, humbled, and so ready for more magic.
