Mindful Yoga and Movement for Kids
Fitness is not just about high energy. We incorporate yoga and stretching to help kids find their balance, improve flexibility, and calm their minds after an active session.
We begin our yoga session with simple stretches and breathing exercises. I guide the kids to find their 'Gyan Mudra' and practice Om chanting to center themselves before we begin.
Here, I am demonstrating the steps of Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation). I guide the kids through each pose, like the Mountain Pose, helping them stretch their bodies and improve their posture.
This video shows a variety of activities from our sessions, including yoga and cooldowns. A balanced approach to fitness is key to overall development.
About Mindful Movement: Yoga & Cooldowns
After a high-intensity session of basketball or relay races, we do not just stop. We bring the heart rate down through structured breathing and simple yoga poses. My goal is to teach your child how to calm their own mind and stretch their muscles properly, whether they are three or twelve.
Think of this as the essential cooldown. When kids are buzzing with energy, the ability to settle down and focus is a skill in itself. We use basic yoga asanas and breathing techniques to build body awareness that you don't get from just running around.
We start with simple stretches, guiding the kids to find their 'Gyan Mudra' and practice basic breathing to center themselves. It is all about posture and flexibility. We walk through poses like the Mountain Pose (Parvatasana), teaching them to coordinate movement with breath.
This is not a rigid or silent class. It is practical movement designed for children. We focus on:
- Flexibility: Stretching tired muscles after drills.
- Body Awareness: Understanding how to control and place the body.
- Focus: Using 'Om' chanting and breathing to calm the mind.
Parents, you are always welcome to join us on the mats. It is a fantastic way to stretch out those office shoulders while your child develops their athletic foundation. We keep it light, we keep it moving, and we make sure everyone leaves the mat feeling centered.
