Real life is rarely posed. These photos are about the fleeting, unscripted moments that happen when you aren't looking at the camera.

A quiet, beautifully framed black and white shot of a grandfather and granddaughter sitting together. We are always watching for these simple, slice-of-life moments that tell a deeper story.

A close-up black and white photo of a young girl's face, filled with excitement and joy during a ceremony. By focusing on expressions, we capture the true feeling of the day.

A lovely black and white candid of two sisters in traditional dress, holding hands and walking together. This image captures the simple beauty of their bond and movement.

A candid, street-style black and white shot of a family walking during an event. This documentary approach allows us to capture the natural flow and atmosphere of your celebration.

A classic black and white portrait of grandparents, made even more special by the joyful photobomb from their grandchild in the background. It's a perfect, unscripted family moment.

A behind the scenes, black and white shot of a young woman during a home ceremony. Including the lighting setup adds a raw, documentary feel to this quiet, preparatory moment.

An artistic black and white portrait of a couple standing against a modern, patterned wall. We use composition and negative space to create striking, minimalist images.

A fantastic group photo of a large, fun-loving family gathered on the steps at Royalton Leisure. We love organizing these big family portraits that bring everyone together in one happy frame.

A candid shot of guests enjoying the ceremony. We make sure to photograph not just the main family but also the friends and relatives who are there to share in the joy.

About The Art of Observation: Candid Moments

When I am shooting these candid moments, I am looking for the in-between time, the glance between a grandmother and grandchild, or the quiet preparation before a ceremony begins. I use black and white photography specifically to strip away distractions, letting you focus entirely on the emotion of the interaction rather than the colors of the outfit or the background.

My approach to photography is rooted in observation. I do not believe in shouting instructions or forcing you into rigid poses. Instead, I move around your venue, blending into the background with my Canon mirrorless gear to capture the authentic, messy, and beautiful reality of your day.

Whether it is a naming ceremony in a Jayanagar home or a large family gathering at Royalton Leisure, I look for the stories unfolding on the sidelines. The black and white edit is a conscious choice for this collection. By removing color, I highlight the raw geometry and deep feeling of a moment that might otherwise be missed. It forces us to look closer at the person, the expression, and the connection.

If you are worried about feeling awkward in front of a lens, this style is your best friend. There is no pressure to perform. You just live your life, enjoy your family, and let me handle the documentation. It is about preserving the memories of how you felt, not just how you looked.

I'm Sowmya. I am a bit of a gear nerd, but mostly, I just love watching a family’s journey unfold and catching those honest, unscripted laughs. My camera is always ready for the moment the monkeys crash the party or the babies steal the show, because those are the photos that matter most.
