Real Moments and Unexpected Stories
Not every shoot goes according to plan, and I would not have it any other way. Here is a look at the chaos, the comedy, and the genuine moments that make documenting your family history such an adventure.
Every shoot has a story, and this one was unforgettable. It started as a beautiful naming ceremony for little Amogh, but someone else decided to steal the show.
We were capturing all the lovely details: the baby's name written in flowers, the traditional lamps, and the sweet newborn himself. Everything was going perfectly.
The older kids were fascinated by their new baby brother, and we were getting some wonderful, real-life photos of their first interactions at home.
And then, this happened. An uninvited monkey swung in, helped himself to the fruit, and gave the entire family a story they will never forget. Capturing the unexpected is part of the fun.
While our furry friend caused some chaos, we still captured the moments of pure love, like this grandfather holding his newborn grandchild. It was a day of both peace and pandemonium.
About Additional Work
I have learned that the best part of any shoot is when things go sideways. Whether a toddler decides they are done with photos or an uninvited guest crashes your ceremony, these unplanned moments are where the most honest photos happen. I keep my camera ready for the scenes that are not scripted, because those are the ones you will actually laugh about in ten years.
My approach to photography is rooted in documentary storytelling. I do not look for the stiff, posed smiles that everyone is told to make. Instead, I wait for the blink of an eye, the genuine laughter, and the fleeting interactions that define your family's dynamic.
I treat my equipment with the same seriousness I bring to your memories. Using professional Canon mirrorless gear means I am always ready, regardless of the lighting or the speed at which kids are running around the living room.
I have photographed naming ceremonies where everything was perfect, and ceremonies where the local wildlife decided to join the guest list. These are the days that stick with you. If you are looking for someone to guide you into a perfect pose, I might not be your person. But if you want someone to capture the real story—monkeys and all—I would love to be the one behind the camera.
SowmyaPhotography & Films
I am Sowmya, and I view every event as a story waiting to unfold. I do not just stand there with a camera; I dive into the chaos, follow the kids, and wait for the moments that make your family who you are. My goal is to capture you as you really are—laughing, living, and occasionally dealing with unexpected guests.
