Interactive Caricature Workshops and Guest Lectures
I bring energy and practical art skills to design students, turning lectures into interactive sessions where everyone learns to see things differently.
There's nothing better than seeing the joy on a student's face during a live caricature session. Here I am at Dr. B Hirey College of Architecture's 'Visionata' event, capturing a volunteer's likeness on the spot, creating a moment of shared laughter and art. This is the kind of interactive fun I love to bring to my sessions.
This is from a mascot design workshop I conducted for the Bachelor of Design students at Dr. DY Patil University. I'm breaking down the process of character creation on a digital screen, showing how a simple idea can be developed into a full-fledged mascot.
Sharing my personal story is a big part of my motivational talks. At the 'Visionata' event, I presented my artistic journey, covering the challenges and breakthroughs that shaped my career. My goal is to offer a real, honest look at the life of an artist to inspire students.
What a fantastic group of students at Dr. DY Patil University's School of Design. This photo captures the incredible energy after a mascot design session. Creating a positive and collaborative atmosphere is key to my workshops.
During a guest lecture, I enjoy diving deep into the specifics of my art style. Here, I'm on stage explaining the techniques behind one of my digital caricatures, showing students how exaggeration and form come together to create a compelling piece.
The best part of any workshop is seeing what everyone creates. At a World Cartoonist Day event, I had the pleasure of drawing caricatures for the guests. Seeing them hold up their portraits with smiles is the ultimate reward.
About Featured
My workshops are not standard lectures where you just listen. We use a watch and replicate method where I project my iPad screen so students follow my live digital brushstrokes for mascot design or caricature anatomy in real-time. It is hands-on work from the first minute, designed to help you grasp the exaggeration techniques I use in my professional projects.
I believe that the best way to learn art is by getting your hands dirty. My sessions at institutions like Dr. DY Patil University and Visionata are built around this philosophy. Instead of just showing slides, I focus on a live workflow where I break down the anatomy of a character or a face right in front of you.
What to expect from a session
- Mascot Design: We take a blank canvas and build a brand mascot from scratch. You will learn the importance of shape language, silhouette, and how to create a character that resonates.
- Caricature Fundamentals: We dive deep into exaggeration—learning which features to push and which to keep subtle to capture a likeness accurately.
- Real-time Feedback: In my workshops, I circulate the room to provide physical corrections on student work. This is where the magic happens, as you get immediate, tailored advice on your sketches.
Practical Details
My approach is informal and collaborative—what I call 'apliich hava' (our own vibe). Whether it is a 90-minute guest lecture or a 3-hour intensive workshop, I need a standard setup: an HDMI-compatible projector and a microphone. I bring the digital tools and the energy; you bring the sketchbooks. I am happy to work closely with your professors to align the session with your current curriculum or cultural festival theme.
