Mastering Kathak & Bharatnatyam Fundamentals
A strong foundation is everything in dance. We break down every footwork, mudra, and expression *bilkul baareeki se* (in detail), ensuring a rock-solid foundation for learners of all ages.
Understanding 'Bhava' or emotion is central to dance. Here, I am explaining how to use facial expressions and body language to convey feelings, which is a key part of our training.
In classical dance, we teach how to create imagination through 'bhav paksh' or the expressive aspect. It's about telling a story without words.
Kathak is a beautiful blend of soul and love. We teach the fundamentals online, so if you want to learn, don't wait. Just send us a message.

A sitting choreography for the song 'Aise Kyun'. This type of choreography focuses on 'hastak' (hand movements) and 'bhav' (expressions), and you can learn it in our online classes.
We are starting new online Kathak and Semiclassical dance classes soon. We will have private sessions for Kathak and group sessions for Semiclassical, both with certificate courses.
About Learning the Fundamentals
Start by understanding that rhythm (Laya) and posture come before speed. In our fundamental sessions, we focus on Tatkar (footwork) and Bhav (expression) exercises that train your body to hold correct angles, preventing future strain and helping you perform with grace, whether you are 4 or 70.
Why Focus on Fundamentals?
Many students come to me thinking they aren't 'built' for dance. That is rarely true. The problem is usually that they were rushed into choreography before learning the basics. Whether you are aiming for a certification from Prayag Sangeet Samiti or just dancing for the love of it, your progress depends on how well you understand the basics.
What We Cover in These Sessions
We don't just teach steps; we teach how to control them. Our fundamental modules cover:
- Tatkar (Footwork): Learning the correct weight distribution to maintain balance during spins (Chakkar).
- Mudras (Hand Gestures): Precise placement so your hands tell a story instead of just moving in the air.
- Bhav (Expression): The emotional language of dance. You will learn how to create imagination and convey feelings through your face and eyes.
- Posture Correction: Essential for both online and offline learners. I monitor your alignment closely to ensure your spine and limbs are positioned correctly, which is vital for long-term practice.
How You Can Learn
We keep the environment supportive, not competitive. You can join our live interactive sessions on Zoom or Google Meet, or visit our studios in Greater Noida and Patna. If you are serious about pursuing a formal path, I guide you through the syllabus requirements for recognized exams. For those starting from scratch, I recommend booking a trial assessment first. It’s a 30-minute session where we check your rhythm sense and flexibility, allowing me to place you in the batch that fits your current level best.
