Fashion and Runway Choreography
I design movement that breathes life into fashion, turning runway shows and editorial campaigns into cohesive visual narratives. My focus is on the interplay between fabric, silhouette, and natural human motion.
A stunning moment of dynamic balance from the Shantanu & Nikhil campaign. My choreography aimed to create shapes that were as architectural and detailed as the garments themselves, using the dancers' bodies to extend the lines of the fashion.
This image from the "Sway" campaign for Shantanu & Nikhil shows a complex lift that blends strength and grace. We worked to create formations that felt both organic and highly structured, reflecting the duality in their designs.
A throwback to the Shantanu & Nikhil summer 2022 campaign. The choreography here focused on creating elegant lines and expressive postures that highlighted the texture and flow of the fabric.
This powerful backbend captures the emotion and physicality I bring to fashion choreography. For this Shantanu & Nikhil shoot, the movement was designed to feel raw and intense, showcasing the intricate garment in a dramatic arc.
Choreographing the Westside 25th anniversary fashion show was an amazing experience. I designed the models' walks and movements on the runway to celebrate 25 years of style with grace and confidence.
About Couture in Motion
When I plan runway choreography, I work backward from the garment's silhouette. If your collection features heavy ethnic wear or structured couture, I adjust the model's stride and posture to ensure the fabric moves with them, not against them. My goal is to create a natural, high-energy flow that keeps the viewer's focus on the design details while the models command the space.
Fashion is rarely static. In my work for brands like Westside and designers like Shantanu & Nikhil, I focus on the interplay between garment architecture and human movement. Whether it is a seasonal runway show or a high-fashion editorial campaign, I look for the story within the design.
For runway shows, I handle everything from model blocking to energy pacing. I analyze the collection's fabric—is it fluid silk or rigid structure?—and build a gait that highlights those textures. For editorial campaigns, I shift focus to sculptural visuals. I guide models into postures that extend the garment's lines, turning a static shoot into a dynamic visual narrative.
My process starts with a deep dive into your brand's identity. I do not believe in generic model walks; I design movement that feels like a natural extension of the clothing. We work on:
- Runway Blocking: Spatial awareness to ensure smooth, professional transitions.
- Posture Coaching: Teaching models to carry specific materials with confidence.
- Dynamic Posing: Using movement to reveal garment details during video shoots.
Collaboration is essential. I work closely with your creative directors, photographers, and stylists to ensure the movement serves the artistic vision. If you have an upcoming collection or a fashion film project, let's talk about how we can make your designs look even better in motion.
