A behind-the-scenes look at my studio, where I turn blank sneakers into durable, hand-painted art. No shortcuts, just paint, persistence, and a lot of coffee.

This is my studio, and this is how I really sit and paint all day. Forget the glamorous reels; the truth is messy, real, and usually involves my hair being tied up.

Welcome to my TED talk. Following your passion isn't always glamorous. It comes with highs, lows, and a lot of imposter syndrome, but it's about finding the balance and pushing through.

The life of an artist is often the life of a content creator. This video shows the less glamorous side: packing up a finished pair of tiger-themed sneakers for shipping.

"Sorry, I can't, I have plans tonight." My plans usually involve making more art and creating content about it, because being a one-woman army is tough!

Here are two days of detailed work, condensed into a few seconds. A lot of patience and precision goes into every single pair.

The secret to painting better isn't talent, it's persistence. This video shows my progress over the years. You just have to keep doing it, on good days and bad.

My mother always told me that persistence is the key to success. This video of me painting is a reminder to keep working towards your goals, one brushstroke at a time.

The difference between an average custom pair and a good one is in the details. Always paint your edges! A satisfying look at me filling in the details on a cartoon-style sneaker.

About The Process: How It's Made & Made to Last

You’re probably wondering: 'Will this paint peel off the moment I step out in the rain?' Honestly, I used to worry about that too. That's why I don't take shortcuts. Every pair I paint goes through a rigorous process of deep cleaning, leather prepping, layering with premium Angelus leather paints, and finishing with multiple coats of industrial-grade sealant. Whether it’s a Nike Air Force 1 or an Adidas Samba, your shoes aren't just display pieces; they’re meant to be worn, and they’re built to survive your daily grind.

Being a one-woman artist means I’m the painter, the photographer, the packager, and the person dealing with the stress of a deadline. But this 'hidden' part of the job is where the quality actually happens.

The Process

  1. The Prep: I don't just paint over the leather. I use a professional deglazer to strip off the factory finish, which ensures the paint actually bonds with the material instead of sitting on top of it. This is the difference between a pair that chips after a week and one that lasts for years.
  2. The Paint: I use Angelus leather paints. These are made to flex, meaning they move with your shoe. If your sneaker creases, the paint bends with it rather than cracking.
  3. The Protection: This is the most crucial step. I seal every pair with a heavy-duty, water-resistant top coat. I apply these in layers, ensuring your design is protected against scratches, scuffs, and even mild Delhi monsoons.

The Reality

I know the reels make it look easy. I’ve seen the expectations people have for 'artistic' vibes—messy desks, paint-splattered clothes, and perfect lighting. The truth is, my studio is often chaotic, and the work involves tedious hours of steady hand-work. Whether I'm doing a 2D pop-art design or a hyper-realistic pet portrait, that time is spent ensuring the art holds up to actual walking. If you’re looking for a pair of kicks that you can wear to the club, the grocery store, or just out on the street, you’ve found the right place.

I'm Sugandha, the oddball behind ShoesYourDaddy. I started this in my room because I was tired of boring jootey, and ten years later, I’m still here with my brushes and a serious case of perfectionism. It's just me creating your custom pairs, so you’re getting art made with a lot of heart and zero corporate automation.
