About Behind the Art
We don't just spray paint these. Every pair undergoes a multi-step process: professional surface prep, hand-sketched outlines, precision layered acrylic painting, and a final water-resistant sealer application. It takes 3 to 5 weeks because quality takes time, and we ensure your custom kicks handle street wear without the artwork cracking or fading.
How We Create Your Wearable Art
People often ask if the paint stays on, or if they can actually wear these outside. The answer is yes, but only because we refuse to cut corners.
The Knickgasm Process
- Authentic Bases Only: We work exclusively on 100% authentic Nike and Adidas silhouettes. Whether it's the classic Air Force 1 or a Converse Chuck Taylor, the quality of the base shoe matters as much as the art.
- Surface Prep: We start by stripping the factory finish. Without this step, paint won't adhere properly to leather, and it would peel within a week.
- Hand-Painting: We use professional-grade Angelus leather paints. We mix them for flexibility, meaning the paint moves with the shoe's material rather than cracking when you walk.
- Sealing: This is the most crucial part for durability. We apply multiple layers of specialized acrylic finisher to make the surface scratch and water-resistant. You can wear your custom sneakers out in the city without stress.
Why It Takes Time
Each pair is a 1 of 1 creation. Between the sketch approval, the base layers, the detailing, and the curing time for the sealer, a standard order takes 3 to 5 weeks. We aren't mass-producing; we are hand-painting every single panel. If you need something for a specific event or date, we recommend ordering well in advance so we can give your pair the attention it deserves.

If you see our work in a live event or on the streets of Paris, that’s exactly what you get at home. We treat every order with the same intensity as our professional shoots. We don't do fakes, and we don't do 'good enough.' It’s either Knickgasm, or it’s just shoes.
