Meet the Artist: My Journey from Misfit to Custom Sneaker Designer
Forget the perfectly polished reels. This is the real, messy, and loud journey of how I started painting sneakers in my studio—and eventually took my story to the TEDx stage.
This video is a look at the reality of my creative process. Forget the glamorous perception of artists you see online; this is me in my studio, in my comfy clothes, doing what I love without any fancy setup.
A proud moment for me, posing next to my official banner at the TEDx event where I was a speaker. Seeing my name and "Sneaker Designer" title up there was a dream come true.
Standing in front of the main stage banner at the TEDx event. It was amazing to see my face alongside the other talented speakers and to be a part of such an inspiring day.
The official speaker badge from my TEDx talk. Holding this in my hand was a powerful reminder of how far I've come on this journey as a self-taught artist and entrepreneur.
A group photo with the incredible team and fellow speakers at the TEDx event. The energy and passion from everyone involved was truly contagious.
A quiet moment before the big talk. This welcome bag from TEDx sitting on the table was when it all started to feel real. It was a day full of nerves and excitement.
About The Artist & My Journey
When you look at my work, you see the vibrant final product. What you don't see are the layers of sealant, the paint on my clothes, and the hours of quiet, focused prep work done right here in my Delhi studio. I am a one-woman army, meaning every piece that leaves my desk is touched only by me, from the first sketch to the final coat of protective finish.
I grew up an oddball, always looking for ways to stand out. While everyone else followed trends, I was painting my own shoes because I wanted something different. That self-taught spirit, fueled by YouTube tutorials and endless trial and error, is the core of ShoesYourDaddy. Whether I am customizing a Marshall speaker or hand-painting a canvas, I do not use stencils. Everything is freehand.
My process is not about factory-finish perfection. It is about applying adhesion promoters, using professional-grade Angelus paints, and ensuring every layer is sealed for durability. When I take on a commission, I am not just making a product. I am turning your personal items into art that tells a story. From my TEDx talk back to my painting desk, the philosophy remains the same: disrupt the ordinary. If you are looking for art that carries character, texture, and a human touch, then let's create something together.
