Luxury Bag Refurbishing and Custom Color Changes
Don't retire your favorite bag just because it's faded or stained. I breathe new life into luxury leather with custom color transformations that are built to last.
This is more than just a paint job; it's a complete restoration. This video shows the before and after of a vintage Louis Vuitton bag that I refurbished for a client, transforming it from faded yellow to a bold neon pink and purple statement piece.
About Bag Refurbishing & Customization
Most people think painting leather just means slapping on some color, but it is actually a 6-8 layer process. I strip the original factory finish entirely, which ensures the paint flexes with the leather instead of cracking or peeling over time.
It is a delicate balance. Whether it is a classic LV or a sentimental piece that has lost its glow, my process focuses on longevity. I start with a deep chemical deglazing to remove the factory top coat. If you skip this, the paint will never adhere, and you will be back to square one in a month.
After that, I apply 6-8 thin layers of specialized flexible leather paint. These are not standard acrylics, as they are formulated to move with the leather. This means when the bag bends, your design stays smooth rather than cracking. I also pay obsessive attention to the hardware. Every zipper, logo, and buckle is masked by hand before I even touch the paint.
Finally, I finish it with two generous coats of industrial-grade Liquid Kicks sealant. This provides the UV and water resistance needed for daily use. It is definitely not a quick fix, but it is a permanent one. If you have a specific color change in mind or just want to cover up some stubborn stains, let’s chat about what is possible for your specific bag.
