Disrupting the Ordinary: My Hand-Painted Artistry
I’m Sugandha, a self-taught artist on a mission to paint the world one sneaker, bag, and gadget at a time. This is my collection of one-of-a-kind projects—a look into how I turn the boring into the bold.
This custom-painted Marshall speaker is a great example of how I can turn everyday electronics into one-of-a-kind art. I went with a freehand street art style inspired by Basquiat, layering vibrant colors and raw, expressive details to give it a completely new identity.
Here I am with a large commission of nine pairs of Adidas Sambas. Each shoe was hand-painted with a unique splatter design for a private client, showing how I can handle bulk orders for events or teams while ensuring every single piece is a work of art.
A question I get all the time is, "Will the paint wash off?". This video shows you the answer. I use specialized paints and a multi-step process of prepping, layering, and sealing to make the artwork durable and water-resistant, so you can clean your custom gear without worry.
This is more than just a paint job; it's a complete restoration. This video shows the before and after of a vintage Louis Vuitton bag that I refurbished for a client, transforming it from faded yellow to a bold neon pink and purple statement piece.
My work isn't limited to things you can wear. This video shows my process for creating large-scale textured art for your walls. I use wall putty to build a tactile surface on canvas before painting, resulting in a minimalist abstract piece that adds depth to any room.
In this collaboration with Husqvarna, I share a bit of my story. I talk about being a self-taught artist, how I find inspiration in disrupting the ordinary, and how that philosophy drives me to turn everyday items like sneakers into wearable art.
It was an honor to be invited to speak at a TEDx event. Standing on stage and sharing my journey as a sneaker artist was a surreal moment and a huge milestone for my one-woman business.
About Featured
Everything you see here is hand-painted, never stenciled. Whether it is a vintage Louis Vuitton bag getting a neon makeover or a Marshall speaker covered in street art, I focus heavily on the prep—deglazing, multiple layers, and industrial-grade sealing—so your art actually lasts. It is not just a paint job; it is a permanent, wearable piece of your identity.
My Approach to Wearable Art
I don’t believe in mass production. When you ask for a commission, whether it is a pair of custom sneakers or a bag restoration, you are getting the full 'one-woman army' treatment. I handle everything from the initial consultation to the final brushstroke, ensuring no two pieces are ever the same.
The Process: More Than Just Paint
People often ask if the paint will wash off. The answer is no, but only because of the prep work I put in. I use professional-grade Angelus and Alpha 6 paints, which are flexible and durable. For electronics and leather, I perform a deep deglazing process to remove factory finishes, apply adhesion promoters, and finish with multiple coats of Liquid Kicks sealant. This makes the art resistant to water and daily wear—it is as tough as a tattoo, but you can always change the design later if you get bored.
What I Love Working On:
- Sneakers: My roots. From splatter designs on Adidas Sambas to intricate characters.
- Electronics: Transforming boring Bluetooth speakers into canvas pieces using street art styles.
- Luxury Restoration: Saving that favorite bag with a full color change, stripping it down, and giving it a new life.
- Textured Canvas: Going big with wall putty and minimalist shapes to add personality to your home walls.
I am currently based in Delhi NCR, but I ship these custom pieces across India. If you have an idea—no matter how crazy or abstract—bring it to me and let’s see if we can make it real.
