For me, art is more than just paint on a wall. It is a way to share happiness and create learning spaces for children across Karnataka.

In this video, I speak to an audience about my journey as an artist and my mission to use art to help underprivileged children and renovate government schools.

The best moments are those spent with children, sharing the magic of art. Their curiosity and happiness are my biggest motivation.

A candid moment during a project. I believe a smile is the most valuable thing we own, and I try to spread that through my life and my art.

About Art with a Heart

When I visit government schools, I do not just paint walls; I partner with the local community to bring life to these spaces. We select themes like environmental conservation, rural heritage, or historical figures, and often involve the students in the process. This approach helps the children feel a sense of ownership, turning a plain compound wall into a visual lesson that they can truly call their own.

My work in the community, often under the 'Sarkari Shaale Ulisi Abhiyaana' (Save Government Schools Campaign), is about making a lasting impact. I believe that art in a public space, especially a school, should inspire curiosity and pride.

How I Approach Community Art

Whether I am working on a school mural or a public wall, my process focuses on longevity and storytelling:

  • Collaborative Design: I work with school staff and local community members to choose relevant themes. If we are focusing on nature, we might use traditional Warli motifs to tell stories about conserving water or planting trees.
  • Durable Materials: Since these walls are exposed to the elements, I use premium weather-proof exterior emulsions like Asian Paints Apex. This ensures that the art stays vibrant through rain and sun, keeping the message alive for years.
  • Meaningful Execution: For school projects, the goal is education. I often integrate educational slogans, local history, or depictions of our land (namma naadu) to turn the school environment into a teaching tool.

By keeping the artwork authentic and deeply rooted in our culture, I aim to transform neglected spaces into vibrant hubs of learning. If you have a school, community center, or public wall that needs a new story, I would love to chat about how we can make it happen together.

Hi, I am SK. My journey started with clay Ganesha idols made for 10 rupees, and that early joy is what I still chase today. Whether I am painting a school wall or performing live art, my goal is simple: to share the diamond of our smiles with everyone I meet.
