School Mural Painting & Educational Art
I transform school walls into visual stories. Through the Sarkari Shaale Ulisi Abhiyaana, I bring murals of history, culture, and nature to classrooms, making learning a more vibrant journey for children.

This video summarizes a project where we painted murals with messages like 'Kaadu belesi naadu ulisi' (Grow the forest, save the country) and involved the children, making them part of the creative process.
A proud moment with the future generation. These children are the reason I am so passionate about revitalizing government schools, giving them a beautiful place to learn and dream.

About Art for Education: The School Mural Initiative
When I paint for a school, it is not just about colour. I consult with teachers and the community first, as the murals are designed to be educational tools—teaching environmental conservation, social values, or local history. We use durable, weather-proof emulsion so these lessons remain vibrant even through the rainy season, ensuring the space stays bright for years.
My work in schools goes beyond simple decoration. I focus on creating an environment that sparks curiosity. Whether it is a portrait of a historical figure like Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar to inspire leadership, or a mural on nature conservation to teach children about protecting our environment, every brushstroke has a purpose.
The Collaborative Process
- Consultation: We discuss the themes relevant to the school curriculum and local community values.
- Design & Layout: I draft concepts that are visually engaging for children, using bright, clear colours and distinct shapes.
- Execution: My team and I handle the entire process, from preparing the wall base to the final varnishing.
- Sustainability: We use high-quality Asian Paints or equivalent exterior emulsion, ensuring the murals are resistant to fading and water damage.
Why Educational Murals Matter
A blank wall is a missed opportunity. In many government schools, these murals serve as a constant, visual reference for lessons. We have painted themes ranging from historical icons and local heritage to social messages like saying no to child marriage. My goal is to make the school building itself a teacher, fostering pride and learning among students. If you are part of a school management committee or a community group looking to revitalize your premises, let us build something meaningful together.

I am Shivakumar Kandikere, and for me, art is a way to give back. I believe a school wall can be a textbook if painted with enough heart. When I step into a government school, my mission is simple: to make children smile and help them see the beauty in our culture and values.
