Cinematic & Moody Portraits
I don’t just take portraits. I sculpt light and shadow to create images that feel like stills from a film. Whether it is deep noir or raw, sun-drenched emotion, we will capture the version of you that speaks the loudest.
Here, I played with a single beam of light to create a cinematic, intimate portrait of Dipannita Sharma. The sharp contrast between the artificial sunbeam and the deep shadows crafts a mood of quiet contemplation, turning a simple moment into a story.
A portrait of Dipannita Sharma bathed in warm, dramatic light. Lying down, she appears lost in a dreamlike state, the yellow dress and deep shadows creating a painterly, cinematic quality.
A quiet, intimate portrait of Dipannita Sharma. The soft lighting and her gentle over-the-shoulder glance create a sense of vulnerability and grace, highlighting the delicate straps of the blue dress.
A close-up portrait focusing on texture and form. The soft light caresses the subject's skin, highlighting the elegant lines of her neck and hands in a moment of quiet grace.
Working with Randeep Hooda, the goal was to create a portrait that felt both classic and contemporary. The focus was on his presence and expression, using clean studio lighting to sculpt a timeless image that captures his unique charisma.
A full-length studio portrait of Randeep Hooda. His confident stance and sharp suit against the warm, neutral background create a timeless and powerful celebrity portrait.
A moody, atmospheric portrait of a young man by the sea. The overcast sky and rocky shore create a dramatic backdrop, while the soft light focuses on his intense, direct gaze.
A dreamy, ethereal shot of a woman looking out at the sea. I used a lens flare effect to create golden rays of light, adding a magical and serene quality to this beach portrait.
A raw and intimate black and white portrait taken on the beach. The model's direct gaze and windswept hair create a powerful sense of connection and untamed beauty.
A soft, melancholic black and white portrait. The model is turned away, looking down, with the focus on the gentle light on her back and the soft, out-of-focus natural background.
About Cinematic & Moody Portraits
When we shoot, it is rarely just about pointing the camera. I use tethered shooting with a Fujifilm GFX 100 on set, which means you see the high-resolution images as they happen on a connected laptop. This lets us nail the mood, lighting, and expressions in real-time, so we do not have to guess if the shot worked once the session is over.
My Approach to Portraiture
Photography is a dance. It is not just about the gear, though I do use 100MP medium format cameras for that crisp, high-end finish. It is about the intent behind every frame. Whether we are chasing artificial sunbeams in a studio or capturing a quiet, melancholic moment on the rocks by the sea, the goal remains the same: to create a visual narrative that feels like a still from a movie.
Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of preparation do I need?
Bring your ideas, your favorite wardrobe, and a mindset to experiment. I provide the direction on set to help you find the right posture and expression. If you have a specific mood board or reference, share it beforehand so we can align on the tone.
Where do we shoot?
I am based in Mumbai, so we can work in local studios, urban settings, or find a remote spot for that raw, natural feel. I travel across India for projects if your vision requires a specific backdrop.
What is the 'noir' style you mention?
My noir work focuses on high-contrast lighting, deep shadows, and emotional depth. It strips away the clutter to focus entirely on your eyes and your silhouette. It is intense, personal, and timeless.
What do I get after the session?
You get high-end retouched hero images. We focus on quality over quantity. Every frame is edited with specific color grading to match the cinematic vibe we discussed during pre-production, ensuring your final deliverables are ready for your portfolio, website, or agency submission.

I am Shikhar. I have spent the last decade chasing the weird, the raw, and the beautiful through my lens, usually somewhere in the chaos of Mumbai or up in the mountains. I do not do standard; I do stories. If you want portraits that feel like a film still, let’s get to work.
