Fine Art & Human Form Photography in Mumbai
I strip away the noise to focus on the raw story of the human form. Whether it is high-contrast monochrome or warm, textured portraits, my goal is to capture the quiet essence of the subject—no artifice, just real light and raw emotion.
This image, which received an honorable mention at the Monochrome Photography Awards, is a study in texture and form. It’s about the connection between self and touch, using the simplicity of black and white to focus on the emotion and detail of the moment.
The original shot from my award-winning series. This black and white fine art photograph captures the texture of paint on skin, exploring themes of self-embrace and sensory experience.
An abstract black and white study of form and shadow. The repeating pattern of the leaves against the curve of the human body creates a rhythmic, sculptural composition.
A warm, color version of my abstract study. The interplay of light and shadow on the skin and the spiral of leaves creates a primal, intimate connection between the human body and nature.
A fine art body scape, focusing on the elegant curve of the spine. The warm, soft light highlights the texture of the skin, turning the human form into a beautiful, rolling landscape.
A fine art portrait focusing on the back and the texture of the fabric. The warm lighting and the subject's pose create a sense of intimacy and vulnerability, celebrating the beauty of the human form.
A close-up fine art portrait focusing on the hand and neck. The warm tones and soft lighting create a gentle, tactile image that highlights the simple beauty of the human form.
A classic, moody portrait of a man looking over his shoulder. The lighting sculpts his features, creating deep shadows that add a sense of drama and introspection to this fine art study.
A minimalist black and white fine art piece. The subject's back is curved against a stark white background, creating a clean, sculptural image that explores themes of solitude and introspection.
A conceptual fine art portrait titled "The Melody of Stillness." A dried leaf placed over the mouth suggests silence and a connection to nature, creating a poetic and thought-provoking image.
About Fine Art & The Human Form
I don't just photograph people, I look for the quiet rhythms of the body. When I shoot fine art, I use a tethered Fujifilm GFX 100 setup, which allows us to see every texture and shadow in real-time. It is not just about posing. It is a collaboration where we explore light, skin, and space until we land on something that feels honest and timeless.
Whether we are working with high-contrast noir in a Mumbai studio or finding light in a raw, industrial space, my process remains the same. I strip away the noise. Fine art photography is about capturing the human form as a landscape—the curve of a spine, the tension in a hand, or the way shadow defines a silhouette.
I use 102MP medium format gear, not because it is fancy, but because it captures the nuance of skin and fabric that standard cameras often miss. My approach is tactile. I want the viewer to feel the coldness of the floor or the warmth of the light.
We do not do stiff, mannequin-like poses here. I prefer to guide you through movement, finding the moments between the breaths. My style leans heavily into the monochrome spectrum to force focus on composition, but I am equally comfortable with bold, raw color if the story demands it. If you want a portrait that defies standard commercial trends and actually reflects who you are, let's talk.

I’m Shikhar, and I have spent the last decade chasing the stories that hide in plain sight. For me, the human form isn’t just a subject—it is a landscape of texture and shadow that demands respect. Let’s create something that goes beyond the surface and actually means something.
