About Featured
Many schools treat weapons as a secondary hobby, but at our dojo, Kobudo is a fundamental pillar of your belt progression. You will start with the six-foot Bo staff to build essential coordination and stance before advancing to intricate steel weapons like the Sai or Tonfa. We provide all the necessary gear at our Honbu Dojo, so you can focus entirely on mastering your form without worrying about equipment costs or sourcing.
Kobudo is not just about swinging sticks; it is about extending your body’s reach and understanding the historical roots of Okinawan Karate. When we say our syllabus is authentic, it means we follow the exact lineage of my teachers, Hanshi Shugoro Nakazato and Hanshi Minoru Nakazato. Alli hege teach madtare, same illi navu teach madtivi (The way they teach there, that is how we teach here).
Our Weaponry Curriculum
- Bo (Staff): The six-foot foundation. This is where you learn balance, distance, and raw power. It is challenging for beginners, but essential for everything that follows.
- Tonfa: These require a different level of wrist control and are excellent for practicing defensive blocking and counter-attacks.
- Sai: As you advance, you move to these traditional truncheons. They are perfect for close-quarter defense and building the wrist strength necessary for high-level Karate.
Why Train With Us?
This is not a commercial, watered-down program. Whether you are a total beginner or a black belt looking to refine your technique, the path is the same: discipline and repetition. We conduct training on professional-grade mats at our Bangalore Honbu Dojo, ensuring safety while you train hard. This dedication is how we have trained thousands of students over 33 years. If you want to move beyond just punching and kicking and become a complete martial artist, this is where you start.
OSK Federation
I started this federation in 1992 with 14 students, and today, we are India's largest traditional karate school. I personally travel to Okinawa every year to train with the masters, ensuring that what you learn at our dojo is raw, authentic, and unchanged. My goal is to see you not just earn a belt, but build the discipline that stays with you for life.
