About Portrait & Storytelling Mehendi
Because these designs involve custom portraits and specific wedding scenes, I prefer to finalize the narrative flow with you well before the wedding date. We will look at your reference photos together to ensure the expressions and jewelry details are exactly what you want.
How We Design Your Story
Portrait mehendi is more than just a design; it is a conversation. Whether you want a scene from your baraat, a doli, or a classic depiction of deities like Radha-Krishna or Vithal-Rakhumai, I focus on capturing the emotion rather than just drawing lines.
The Technique
To make your portraits stand out, I use a negative space technique. By darkening the background surrounding the faces, the details of your portraits pop. This requires a steady hand and a deep understanding of henna density, which is why I personally execute all portrait work to ensure the likeness matches your photos.
Planning Your Design
Since these designs are customized to your specific wedding story, we need to plan ahead.
- Reference Photos: For couple portraits or wedding scenes, send me your favorite photos. We will discuss which ones will look best when drawn in henna.
- Design Placement: We will decide together whether these belong on the palm, the back of the hand, or the forearm to ensure they are visible and well-balanced with the rest of your bridal patterns.
- Narrative Flow: Think of your hands as a storybook. We can arrange your wedding date, your initials, and your proposal scene in a way that flows naturally from your fingertips to your elbows.
Everything used is my homemade, natural henna. It is about the quality of the stain as much as it is about the art. If you are looking for something that is truly yours and not a catalogue design, let’s talk.
