I teach children as young as 4 how to focus, stay active, and defend themselves. My classes provide a structured, safe, and fun environment where kids learn respect and perseverance through authentic Shotokan Karate.

This flyer details our kids' karate classes in Borivali West, open to children 4 years and older. We focus on basic moves, punches, and kicks while instilling the core values of respect and self-discipline that karate teaches.

Flexibility is a key component of karate. Here, I am safely assisting a young student with a stretching exercise to improve his range of motion, which is crucial for executing kicks and stances correctly.

A proud moment with a large group of my young warriors after their belt and certificate distribution. It's wonderful to see students of different ages and belt levels, from orange to yellow, progressing together.

Congratulations to these two brothers on earning their yellow belts. Their hard work and dedication in class are an inspiration, showing that consistent practice leads to real achievement in martial arts.

Two more dedicated students proudly displaying their certificates after advancing to the next level. Each belt represents a new chapter in their karate journey, built on perseverance and a commitment to improve.

A brother and sister duo celebrating their new green belts. It's fantastic to see siblings train together, supporting each other as they learn and grow in their Shotokan Karate skills.

A group of young students beaming with pride as they show off their new orange belts. The early stages of karate are all about building a solid foundation in stances and basic techniques.

More successful students from our KES International School program, showcasing a mix of yellow and orange belts. This demonstrates the progress students make through our structured curriculum.

About Kids Karate: Building Confidence & Discipline

In my classes, we don't just teach kids how to punch or kick. We start with Kihon basics to build balance and coordination, then move into Kata forms to teach rhythm and focus. It is a space where a shy 4-year-old learns to follow directions and a teenager learns to lead, all while gaining physical strength and the mental discipline that only traditional martial arts can provide.

Authentic martial arts training is about more than just physical fitness. When you enroll your child in my classes, they learn the Asai-ryu Shotokan lineage I inherited from my teacher, Shihan Kousaku Yokota. This means they are getting proper, undiluted technique that builds strong bodies and sharper minds.

My training is structured yet inclusive. We divide our curriculum into:

  • Kihon (Basics): Punching, kicking, and stance training to build muscle memory.
  • Kata (Forms): Developing balance, rhythm, and discipline.
  • Kumite (Controlled Combat): Teaching students how to apply their skills in a safe, supervised way.

I believe in consistency and progress. My students advance through a clear belt grading system, which gives them tangible goals to work towards. Whether it is our branches in Borivali, Kandivali, or Virar, or our programs at KES International School, the goal is always the same: to create fearless souls who respect others.

We also know that karate is a journey. We celebrate every belt promotion because it represents hard work, not just in the dojo, but in school and at home. My sessions incorporate fitness drills, stretching, and even elements of yoga to ensure a well-rounded approach to development.

If you are looking for self-defense classes for children that actually work, my batches focus on practical threat response and situational awareness rather than fancy, impractical moves. We work hard, we sweat, and we support each other like a family.

I am Sensei Amit Khatri, and to me, teaching karate is not a job; it is my heartbeat. I have spent 12 years under Shihan Yokota perfecting these techniques, and my greatest joy is seeing a student earn their next belt. My students are my second family, and I am here to guide yours with the same discipline and care I give my own son.
