Ever wanted to learn the art of bringing a character to life? Join us at our Chembur studio to master the basics of ventriloquism and puppet making with a third-generation artist.

A glimpse into one of my workshops on ventriloquism and puppetry. Here, you can see children learning to make their own sock puppets and bringing them to life for the first time.

Teaching the basics of ventriloquism during a workshop at my studio. I explain the techniques of voice throwing and how to create a distinct character for the puppet.

Children practicing voice exercises during a ventriloquism workshop. It's always fun to see their excitement as they learn to "throw" their voice.

An announcement for my kids' workshop on ventriloquism and puppetry. My wife Rujuta, who is a preschool teacher, helps conduct the puppet-making sessions.

I was invited to perform and speak at the Gaatha Mumbai International Storytelling Festival. Here, I am demonstrating different types of puppets, like glove puppets and string puppets, to an engaged audience of children and adults.

An invitation to the Kukdukoo Children's Fest in Pune. Festivals like these are a great opportunity for me to connect with young audiences and introduce them to the world of puppetry.

About Workshops & Education

You won't just watch a show; you'll build your own character. We focus on the basics of voice modulation and puppet operation, with hands-on sessions where you craft your own sock puppet to take home. My wife, Rujuta, co-conducts these sessions, ensuring students get patient, experienced guidance through every step of the creation process.

Learning the Art of Puppetry

Many people think ventriloquism is just a trick, but it is actually a blend of coordination, voice control, and performance art. At the Indian Centre for Ventriloquism and Puppetry (ICVP) in Chembur, I aim to demystify this craft. Whether you are an enthusiast looking to pick up a new hobby or a parent wanting to introduce your child to a unique creative skill, these workshops offer a behind-the-scenes look at how we work.

What You Will Learn

  • Ventriloquism Basics: We start with the fundamentals of voice production. You will learn how to produce the ventriloquial voice and the techniques of voice throwing without moving your lips.
  • Puppet Operation: It is not just about the voice. You will learn how to operate different types of puppets, understanding the wrist movements and timing required to make a puppet look alive.
  • DIY Puppet Making: Rujuta, my partner in life and in these workshops, brings her expertise as a preschool teacher to lead the craft section. Participants get to build their own sock puppets, learning the anatomy of character design along the way.

Why Join Our Workshops?

This isn't a lecture. It is a space where I share the techniques handed down through three generations of Padhyes. We keep our batch sizes small to ensure everyone gets hands-on time, whether you are 6 or 60. By the end of the session, you won't just have a new skill; you will have a deeper appreciation for the work that goes into every performance you see on stage or screen.
