Discover the blend of century-old puppetry traditions and modern 3D technology crafted in our Mumbai studio.

In honor of Raj Kapoor's centenary year, here is a rehearsal video of a tribute act we performed in Russia. My wife, Rujuta, operates a marionette dancing to "Mera Joota Hai Japani," celebrating the cinematic legend's global legacy.

A lesser-known fact about me is that I am a Chartered Accountant by education. My CA training taught me dedication and analytical thinking, skills that I apply to innovating and preserving the art of puppetry in the modern age.

Celebrating CA Day with my puppet friend. I believe my professional education has given me a unique perspective on managing my career as a full-time artist and puppet-maker.

An interview with EventFAQS where I discussed the future of puppetry in Indian live entertainment. It's important to me to not only practice the art but also to advocate for its innovation and growth.

About The Padhye Legacy & Studio Craft

When you approach us for a custom build, we start with a conversation, not a catalog. We translate your rough ideas or sketches into a character that has its own unique personality, built right here in our Mumbai studio. Whether you need a brand mascot or a complex animatronic for film, we blend my family's traditional handcrafting techniques with modern 3D printing to ensure the puppet performs exactly how you need it to.

A Legacy Built on Strings

For three generations, my family has defined puppetry in India. Moving beyond the traditional shows, I have taken this craft into the world of film, advertising, and corporate branding. When we talk about studio craft, we are talking about engineering a character that feels alive.

Our Build Process

Every project begins with a brief. You don't need to be an expert in puppet mechanics to start. We help you define the expression, movement, and durability required for your specific use case.

  • Design & Concept: We turn your sketches or vague ideas into technical 2D concepts. We focus on the personality first.
  • Material Selection: Depending on the project, we choose between camera-grade fleece, high-density foam, or advanced silicone and latex for realistic creature fabrication.
  • Mechanical Engineering: For ventriloquist figures or animatronic props, we incorporate internal headsticks, cable-controlled jaw mechanisms, and eye movements that look natural on camera.

Why Our Approach Works

My background as a Chartered Accountant might seem unrelated to art, but it is actually the backbone of our studio. It taught me how to manage projects with precision. You get clear timelines, professional communication, and detailed specifications. When we build a mascot for a brand or a creature for a movie set, we ensure it meets production standards. We don't just hand over an object. We provide a character that is ready for the stage or the screen, backed by the quality control you would expect from a professional studio.
