About Editorial & Magazine Features
Editorial styling is less about just picking clothes and more about storytelling through a lens. When I am on set for a magazine spread, my focus is on ensuring the wardrobe creates a cohesive visual narrative that speaks to the lighting, set design, and the subject’s unique persona. It is a precise, collaborative effort between the photographer, the editor, and the styling team, where every accessory and layer is placed to make that final frame work perfectly.
My Editorial Process
When I work on magazine features, the process goes beyond just selecting a garment. It starts with deep pre-production alignment. I meet with the Director and Photographer to break down the lighting, color palette, and the character brief. Whether we are creating a 'susegad' vibe for a Travel + Leisure piece or a high-fashion layered look for Femina, every choice is deliberate.
On-Set Expertise
Editorial shoots often run long, sometimes requiring 12-hour shifts. My on-set presence is dedicated to technical perfection:
- Continuity Checks: I ensure that accessories, folds, and outfit details remain consistent between takes so video editors and photographers have exactly what they need.
- On-Body Adjustments: I use professional clamping and pinning techniques to make ready-to-wear clothing look tailor-made for the camera.
- Innerwear Solutions: We prep with seamless and structural solution-wear to prevent lines from showing under intense studio lights.
Collaboration
I view my role as part of a wider ecosystem. I thrive on the energy of the team—working with editors, makeup artists, and photographers to bring a vision to life.
