Vibrant Watercolor Portraits for Your Loved Ones
I use watercolors to bring warmth and life to your favorite photos, creating memories you can hold in your hands.
My watercolor tribute to Saalumarada Thimmakka, a true inspiration. I started with a light pencil outline and then used layers of watercolor to build up the rich skin tones and the texture of her saree, aiming to capture her warm and powerful spirit.
A watercolor portrait of Appu sir, Puneeth Rajkumar, is always an emotional piece to work on. I focused on capturing his infectious smile using soft watercolor washes for the background and more detailed layers for his features, creating a heartfelt tribute artwork.
Here is the process of my watercolor painting of the legendary Dr. Vishnuvardhan. You can see me mixing the skin tones on my palette and carefully applying the colors to bring his iconic look to life, from his suit and tie to his expressive face.
This is another watercolor portrait I did to honor Sahasasimha Vishnuvardhan. I focused on capturing his intense gaze and the details of his iconic mustache, using strong colors to reflect his powerful on-screen presence.
About Vibrant Watercolor Portraits
I build these portraits in layers, starting with a graphite outline before applying watercolor washes to capture skin tones and textures. This method allows me to get the light right in the first pass, ensuring the colors remain fresh and the final image feels alive rather than like a flat print.
Watercolor is a medium that demands patience because I have to wait for each layer to dry before adding the next. This slow process is exactly what gives the portrait its depth and vibrancy. I work on 300 GSM textured paper, which is sturdy enough to handle the water without warping or buckling.
Every piece starts with your photograph. I study the details of the face, the lighting, and the expressions before I ever pick up a brush. Once the paint is dry, I seal the entire artwork with an archival fixative spray. This step is important because it protects the colors from fading over time and keeps the surface safe from dust or light moisture. I roll the finished portrait and pack it inside a heavy-duty cardboard mailing tube to make sure it reaches you without a single crease. You will always receive a high-resolution digital preview from me for your approval before I ship the final piece.
