Getting my B-High grade from All India Radio in my first attempt was a moment of deep gratitude. For me, this recognition is a validation of the rigorous riyaz and the traditional training passed down to me by my appa, and it sets a standard I strive to maintain in every performance.

My musical identity is deeply anchored in the Faroukhabad Gharana, known for its expressive, detailed approach to the tabla. The process of auditioning for Prasar Bharati was demanding; it required absolute precision in tala structures, complex tihai calculations, and a purity of sound that can only come from years of dedicated practice. This certification is a significant milestone, but it really serves as a waypoint in a much longer, lifelong pursuit of rhythm. Whether I am preparing for a formal concert-grade recital in a large auditorium or setting up for an intimate baithak in a drawing room, the discipline demanded by the AIR audition process remains the baseline for my work. It is not just about passing an exam, but about respecting the art form and the lineage I carry.
