Music is more than just performance, it is a way of life. Here is a glimpse into the person behind the tabla, my rhythm, and the philosophy that guides my riyaz and performances.

A candid moment of reflection. I truly believe that while we cannot control what happens in life, we have the power to decide what we make of it.

A happy moment with my tabla, surrounded by festive lights. Music brings light and joy, and I hope to share that feeling in every performance.

About this collection

These portraits capture the focus I bring to every performance, whether it is a quiet baithak or a concert stage. When you book a session, you are getting the same discipline I pour into my daily riyaz, rooted in the expressive traditions of the Faroukhabad Gharana.

My Musical Roots

Playing the tabla is my mother tongue. My father, Pt. Rajgopal Kallurkar, is my guru, and growing up in that environment taught me that music is not just about technique, but about the connection you share with the audience. Whether I am playing a solo recital or accompanying a vocalist, my goal is to let the instrument tell its own story.

The Faroukhabad Gharana

My style is rooted in the Faroukhabad Gharana, which is known for its detailed and expressive nature. This style allows me to build complex rhythmic patterns over a steady melodic background, or lehra, on the harmonium. I find that this method creates a conversational flow, perfect for listeners who appreciate the nuances of Hindustani classical music.

Performance Philosophy

I treat every performance as a unique experience.

  • Intimate Baithaks: In small, floor-seating gatherings, I focus on explaining the rhythmic structures to the audience, making the music accessible and engaging.
  • Concert Recitals: These formal performances showcase pure classical presentations, featuring speed and mathematical rhythm calculations (Tihai).
  • Jugalbandi: My favorite part of music is the conversation. Whether I am playing with a bansuri, veena, or violin, the goal is to bridge the gap between North and South Indian styles through rhythmic exchange.

If you are planning an event in Bengaluru or across India, I am happy to discuss how we can bring this rhythm to your gathering.

Tabla came to me at home, thanks to my dad and guru, Pt. Rajgopal Kallurkar. I believe the tabla speaks when words fall short, and my goal is simply to share that language with you through my rhythm.
