This is a great example of an open-plan living and dining area. I used a consistent color palette of blues, greys, and whites to connect the two zones, while the paneling on the dining room wall adds texture and definition. The floating TV console and backlit shelves provide storage without adding bulk.
For this living room, I created a bold accent wall in a deep teal with decorative molding for a touch of classic elegance. The rest of the space is kept bright and minimal with white walls, marble-finish flooring, and a sleek floating console table to maintain a sense of openness.
This expansive 2000 sq. ft. apartment in Andheri required a design that was both grand and intimate. I used a warm neutral palette and layered textures, like the wooden fluted paneling above the windows, to create a cohesive flow between the living and dining areas. The result is a contemporary and welcoming family home.
A closer look at this modern living room highlights the interplay of light and shadow. The track lighting on the ceiling is a functional design choice that allows for directed light, while the sheer curtains diffuse natural light beautifully. The bold blue sofa acts as the perfect anchor for the room's neutral tones.
This living and dining space showcases a soft, monochromatic palette for a sophisticated and calming effect. The statement crystal chandelier over the dining table adds a touch of glamour, while the clean lines of the furniture and fluted sofa base maintain a modern feel.
Arches and curves bring a soft, organic feel to this living area. The large arched niche behind the console table serves as a beautiful focal point. I used a large, comfortable L-shaped sofa with plush cushions in earthy tones to maximize seating and create an inviting space for the family to gather.
In this project, the client wanted a comfortable and classic living room. I paired plush sofas in blue and grey with a simple, elegant wall molding detail. The white marble-top coffee table adds a touch of luxury while providing practical storage drawers.

When I plan an open living and dining area, I start by creating a visual bridge between the two zones so they function together without feeling cluttered. Using consistent flooring and unified wall treatments, like fluted wood or neutral paint, I ensure your space feels large and connected while keeping the specific areas for relaxing and eating well-defined.
In many Mumbai apartments, the biggest challenge is maximizing floor space without making the room feel closed off. I approach this by using wall-mounted TV units and slim storage solutions that blend into the wall color, leaving the floor clear. For lighting, I avoid singular, harsh overhead bulbs. Instead, I layer cove lights, track lighting, and focused pendant drops over the dining table to change the mood from bright and functional during the day to warm and inviting at night.
Materials are chosen for durability and ease of maintenance. I often work with Italian marble for a clean, expansive look or durable laminates if you need something more budget-friendly but still polished. If you have specific needs like an integrated home temple or a bar cabinet, I design these into the layout using glass or CNC screens to keep the area breathable. My team manages the process from the first 2D floor plan to the final site finish, so you have one point of contact for the entire project. This removes the stress of coordinating multiple contractors and ensures the final result matches the 3D renders we agree on at the start.
