Charming Balconies & Outdoor Nooks Design
Don't let your balcony become a storage dump. I design these spaces to be your quiet escape, using patterned tiles and greenery to make every square foot count.
I transformed this balcony into a Moroccan-inspired retreat. The beautiful blue and white patterned tiles on the floor and in the arched wall niche are the main feature. A traditional carved bench and a warm wooden ceiling complete this cozy outdoor lounge.
This balcony is a plant lover's paradise. I used a combination of floor planters, wall-mounted shelves, and a grid for hanging pots to create a lush vertical garden. The colorful pots pop against the white wall and blue patterned floor.
A straight-on view of the balcony's seating area. The intricate tilework in the arched niche acts as a beautiful backdrop for the ornate bench, creating a perfect spot to enjoy a cup of tea.
About this collection
Most balconies in our city end up as neglected storage zones, but I love transforming them into your personal oasis. In these projects, I specifically use weather-resistant Moroccan-patterned tiles and warm wooden-finish false ceilings to change the entire vibe. This combination instantly makes the area feel like a cozy lounge rather than just an extension of your living room, without eating up your limited floor space.
When designing outdoor nooks, the biggest challenge is balancing aesthetics with Mumbai's harsh weather. I focus on materials that look premium but survive the rain and sun.
Why these design choices matter
- Patterned Tiles: These add character to small footprints where you cannot add much furniture. I prefer vitrified or ceramic tiles that are easy to clean.
- Vertical Gardens: If your balcony floor is tiny, we go up. Using wall-mounted grids and shelves allows you to have a lush garden without cluttering the walking space.
- Smart Seating: Instead of bulky furniture, I suggest built-in benches or foldable chairs. This keeps the space functional for everything from your morning coffee to an evening reading session.
- Lighting: Just like indoors, lighting changes the mood. I add focused spotlights or warm wall lights so you can use the space comfortably after sunset.
I want your home to be your personal adda. Whether you have a tiny apartment balcony or a larger terrace, we can plan the layout to fit your lifestyle. During our first chat, I will look at how you plan to use the space—whether you want a garden, a reading nook, or just a breezy spot to sit—and we will build the design around that specific need.
