Community Meetups & Cleanup Drives in Gurgaon
Join our weekly tribe gatherings and cleanup drives across Gurgaon. We are turning sustainability into a social activity, one weekend at a time.
A perfect day of nature, games, and zero-waste fun. We collaborated with New Gurgaon Walkers for an outing that combined a refreshing walk with sustainability-themed games and conscious conversations.
Who said building can't be fun? Our younger volunteers get their hands dirty making "mud noodles" for a natural wall building project. This is an ancient, eco-friendly construction technique that we are reviving in our community workshops.
"Once waste is mixed, it is waste." Our founder Juhi briefing volunteers before a cleanup drive in the Aravallis. The goal is not just to clean but to segregate waste at the source for proper recycling and disposal.
Glimpses from a Zero Waste Gurgaon meet-up. We started with a nature walk, followed by a sharing circle where everyone discussed their journey and challenges in living a zero-waste lifestyle.
Our tribe after a fulfilling July meet-up at Leisure Valley Park. We played games, shared stories, and connected over our shared passion for a cleaner, greener Gurgaon.
The next generation spreading the message. Students from Freepathshala join our Wednesday Market drive, holding signs that say "Reduce, Reuse, Refuse" and encouraging shoppers to ditch plastic.
Talking to customers at the local market about the importance of carrying their own bags. Every conversation is an opportunity to create awareness and inspire change, one person at a time.
The beautiful Aravallis are often treated like a dumping ground. During a cleanup drive, we discuss how disposables like kulhads, which many think are eco-friendly, actually take decades to decompose and harm the ecosystem.
"Spots on leopard, not on our trail." A volunteer puts up a powerful reminder during our Aravalli cleanup drive. Our natural trails are home to wildlife and it's our responsibility to keep them clean.
"Mera Kachra, Meri Zimmedari" (My Waste, My Responsibility). This is the core principle that guides all our actions.
About Community Meetups & Cleanup Drives
When we head out for a cleanup, we do not just pick up trash; we make sure it is segregated right there on the spot. If waste gets mixed, it is just trash, but if we separate it at the source—plastic, paper, glass—it actually gets recycled. Join us to learn these simple segregation drills that you can start doing in your own home or office.
Sustainability doesn't have to be a lonely journey. We believe that changing habits is easier when you do it with friends. Our community meetups are designed to be fun, social, and genuinely educational.
Why We Cleanup
We started these drives because we noticed our beautiful local trails, like the Aravallis and the Leopard Trail, were becoming dumping grounds. Cleaning them up isn't just about removing litter; it is about reclaiming our spaces. We often invite local families and kids, showing the next generation that caring for the environment can be a weekend activity, not a chore.
What Happens at Our Meetups
- Plogging: We combine jogging with picking up litter. It is a workout for your body and your conscience.
- Skill Sharing: After the cleanup, we often sit down for a 'sharing circle' where members discuss zero-waste lifestyle challenges, share tips on composting, or swap books and clothes.
- Zero-Waste Fun: We host 'Putaai' events where we paint walls using natural lime wash, or workshops on mud-wall building and millet cooking.
Real Impact, Real Action
Everything we do is grounded in 'Mera kachra, meri zimmedari' (My waste, my responsibility). We aren't just cleaning up; we are auditing the waste. By seeing what actually ends up in the environment—from discarded glass bottles to misunderstood 'eco-friendly' clay cups—participants walk away with a sharper eye for what they consume.
If you are tired of reading headlines about climate change and want to see what actual change looks like, come join us this Sunday. Whether you are an eco-warrior or just curious about living with less waste, there is a spot for you in our circle.
Zero Waste
We are a community of volunteers—moms, students, and regular folks—trying to live a little more like our grandmothers did. We don't just talk about climate change; we show up on weekends to clean our city, learn new sustainable skills, and share a few laughs along the way.
