Reformer Pilates Foundations for Beginners

New to Pilates? We focus on the essentials of the reformer, helping you build core strength and correct your posture in a quiet, controlled environment.

With a new client, my focus is on correcting posture and ensuring proper form from day one. This video shows guided leg and arm work on the reformer, building a solid base for future progress.

A client performs a glute bridge on the reformer, an excellent exercise for activating the posterior chain and strengthening the lower back in a supported way. This is a key move for improving posture.

Holding the bridge at its peak, the client demonstrates control and stability. This isometric hold is crucial for building endurance in the core and gluteal muscles.

The focus here is on the articulation of the spine as the client lowers down from a bridge. We practice this slow, controlled movement to increase spinal mobility and awareness.

A perfect example of a foundational reformer exercise. The glute bridge is a staple in my beginner sessions as it's safe, effective, and teaches essential core engagement.

About this collection

We cap our group reformer sessions at five participants to ensure you receive hands-on adjustments throughout the hour. This small-group approach allows us to correct your form in real-time, helping you build the strength needed for safe, consistent progress whether you are recovering from an injury or just starting out.

Building Your Pilates Foundation

Starting Pilates can feel intimidating, but our foundations program is designed to remove the guesswork. We work with the Peak Pilates MVe Reformer, which offers variable spring tension, allowing us to adjust the resistance to match your current fitness level. Whether you are a total beginner or simply returning to movement, the goal is to master the mechanics of each exercise before increasing the intensity.

Why We Focus on Posture

Many of our clients come to us looking to address back pain or general stiffness from sedentary work. Through controlled, slow-rhythm movements on the reformer, we target the deep core muscles that support your spine. You will learn to articulate your spine, engage your glutes during bridges, and maintain stability—skills that transfer directly to how you move throughout the rest of your day.

The Studio Experience

We designed our space in Hennur to be an escape from the city. With wooden flooring, acoustic treatment, and a green wall, the environment is intentionally quiet. We minimize distractions so you can focus on the mind-body connection that defines true Pilates.

What to Expect in Your First Sessions

It is normal to feel challenged when you start. Our instructors are there to guide you through the initial learning curve, providing tactile cues to ensure your alignment is correct. Once you learn to engage the right muscles, the exercises become more fluid and manageable. Consistency is the key to seeing changes in mobility and strength, so we encourage you to stick with the program even when the movements feel difficult.
