About this collection
My workshops go beyond simple steps, focusing on building discipline and core strength through the martial movements of Mayurbhanj Chhau. I design sessions to fit diverse age groups, whether for a quick lecture-demonstration on cultural heritage or a sustained program to prepare students for a stage performance, ensuring the session is technically rigorous yet deeply engaging for young minds.
Integrating traditional Indian dance into educational curriculums offers more than physical activity; it fosters cultural literacy and artistic expression. My approach, refined through years of teaching and performing, translates the complex, high-energy sequences of Mayurbhanj Chhau into accessible modules for students. Whether for a one-off World Dance Day recital or a semester-long training program, my sessions are structured to introduce participants to the 'Tandav' energy, balancing martial discipline with classical grace. Schools, colleges, and corporate groups benefit from a modular format—ranging from 90-minute lecture-demonstrations that cover the history and theory of Chhau to intensive choreography workshops that culminate in full-stage productions. I provide everything needed for a successful event, including rhythmic guidance, prop handling, and safety training, ensuring that students walk away with not just choreography, but a newfound connection to our virasat. Each session is tailored to the audience, be it younger students exploring the joy of movement or university dancers seeking technical mastery in fusion styles.
