High-Concept Editorial Styling

This video captures the moody and dramatic atmosphere I created for the ethnic wear brand Kashidaa. Using deep magenta lighting and a floor of rose petals, I directed the shoot to evoke a sense of royal solitude and timeless elegance.

For high-concept work, I go beyond just clothing. I handle the end-to-end art direction, which means I coordinate the lighting designer, set props, and editorial glam team to ensure every frame reflects the specific narrative we build during our initial moodboarding sessions.
My Editorial Process
High-concept styling is about creating a visual language that speaks before the viewer even notices the clothes. When I approach an editorial, I do not just pull garments. I develop a narrative arc, select the lighting palette, and oversee the set design to ensure the environment amplifies the collection.
What Goes Into a High-Concept Shoot
- Conceptualization: We start with a mood board that defines the reason behind the shoot. Whether it is minimalist, avant-garde, or period-specific, the vision must be unified.
- Art Direction & Set Design: I manage the prop styling and set construction. If a shoot calls for specific gels, gobos, or custom-built textures, I source and direct them to shape the drama in-camera.
- Crew Coordination: High-fashion imagery requires a specialized team. I commission photographers with specific signatures, assemble editorial glam teams for complex makeup or hair, and ensure the lighting designer is aligned with our visual goals.
- Post-Production Management: The shoot is only half the battle. I oversee the color grading and editorial retouching to match the final output with our initial concept.
