I had the opportunity to style the acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui for this portrait series. My focus was on a minimalist and authentic look, using a simple white shirt to create a timeless and introspective mood that reflects his powerful on-screen presence.
About Celebrity Styling
For celebrity projects, I prioritize what I call 'the quiet look.' When I worked with Nawazuddin Siddiqui, for instance, we stripped away the typical celebrity glamour—no flashy accessories or complicated layers—to focus on the raw texture of a simple white shirt. My approach is to find the one detail that amplifies the person's screen presence rather than hiding it behind expensive fabric.
When I take on celebrity styling, my goal is never to change who you are but to refine how the world perceives your brand. Whether we are preparing for a public appearance, an editorial shoot, or a press tour, I treat it as a piece of narrative work.
My Process
First, we establish the 'anchor' for the look: is this about accessibility, power, or vulnerability? Once we define that, I handle the full production chain. I coordinate with tailors for tailored adjustments, source specific accessories that ground the look, and direct the posing on set to ensure the final frames feel authentic.
Collaborative Execution
Styling isn't a one-person job. I work closely with makeup artists and photographers to ensure the lighting and skin tones complement the wardrobe. For editorial features, this often means working with avant-garde pieces, while for personal appearances, we might focus on understated elegance. I believe the best style is the one that looks entirely effortless, even when it took hours of planning to achieve.
