My S&C Coaching Journey and Philosophy
From academic research at York University to training professional athletes, here is the science and story behind my coaching practice.
Leading a training session with the talented York University women's hockey team. This experience was instrumental in learning how to apply S&C principles to the specific demands of a fast-paced, high-skill team sport.
A proud graduation moment at York University with my parents and one of my mentors. Pursuing this specialized education abroad was a leap of faith that provided me with the comprehensive knowledge I use every day.
About My Journey & Philosophy
When I work with athletes, we start by questioning the 'why' behind every movement. My philosophy isn't just about counting sets and reps; it is about connecting complex biomechanics with the reality of the gym floor, an approach I refined while leading varsity teams at York University.
My journey as a Strength & Conditioning coach didn't start with a certification; it started with a 4-year leap of faith at York University in Canada. I was an outlier—an Indian student navigating a field where I rarely saw people who looked like me. Balancing work, two degrees, and high-pressure varsity environments taught me that performance isn't just physical; it is heavily influenced by the narratives we hold about our capabilities.
The Intersection of Science and Practice
In my practice, I focus on bridging the gap between 'whiteboard theory' and 'gym floor reality'. Too often, training programs are designed in a vacuum, ignoring the athlete's actual needs. My experience ranges from working with elite hockey players to individuals dealing with neuropathy and autism. This taught me that the human body requires more than just force—it requires rhythm, relaxation, and precise coordination.
Why My Philosophy Matters
I view assessment as an ongoing process, not a one-time screening. Whether we are using Velocity Based Training (VBT) or working on game-day priming, every decision is data-driven but applied with a human touch. I don't believe in overloading athletes for the sake of it. Instead, I teach how to optimize the stretch-shortening cycle and use ELDOA for spinal health, ensuring that the work we do today supports the longevity of your career tomorrow.
This isn't about following a template. It is about understanding how your kinetic chain works, identifying leaks, and building a foundation that allows you to perform when it actually counts.
