There is a distinct magic in the grain, the blur, and the unexpected light leak. I capture your family's story on vintage 35mm film, where every imperfection makes the moment feel alive and true to life.

This video shows the process and results of a family session captured entirely on 35mm film. The grain and texture give these moments a timeless, nostalgic quality that I absolutely love.

About The Art of Film Photography

Because I shoot on a vintage FED-5 rangefinder, we move differently than we would for a digital shoot. There is no instant preview on the back of the camera for you to check, which means we rely entirely on intuition and the quiet, candid moments. You have to trust that the 35mm film stock will capture the texture of your family's dynamic far better than a polished digital sensor ever could.

Why Choose Film?

In an age where we can snap hundreds of digital photos in minutes, shooting on film is a deliberate act of slowing down. It is not about capturing a perfect, glossy image. It is about documenting the way you actually live. The grain in a 35mm print adds a depth and warmth that digital files often miss. It turns a simple afternoon in Cubbon Park or a quiet morning at home into a piece of history.

The Process: My FED-5

I rely on my Russian FED-5 rangefinder for these sessions. It is a fully manual machine. There is no autofocus and no digital screen. This requires a level of collaboration between us that is quite unique. I need you to be present and engaged because I am carefully measuring the light and focusing before every single frame. We are limited to 36 exposures per roll, which forces us to make every click count. This constraint creates a focus that simply does not exist with digital shooting.

What You Get

When you book a hybrid film session, you are paying for the entire analog experience. This includes:

  • The Film Stock: Using high-quality Arista 400 or similar stocks for that classic grainy aesthetic.
  • Processing: Professional development and high-resolution scanning of the negatives.
  • Digital Backup: While the film is the soul of the session, I also carry my Sony Alpha mirrorless system. This ensures we have safety shots in case a roll doesn't turn out, giving you the best of both worlds.

After the shoot, the wait is part of the charm. Developing takes time, but receiving the scans is like opening a present. You get digital files that carry the authentic, matte color grading of true film photography, keeping your memories raw and real.

I am Svetlana, and I switch between Bengaluru and Moscow with my FED-5 camera always in hand. I believe your family photos should not look like a glossy magazine advertisement, but like your life—a little messy, completely real, and full of warmth.
